10k sequenced out of 500k tests is about 2%
2% is fairly common for use in polls etc for statistical significance. But with something as worrying as Variants of Concern, then yes, you would hope they would be testing more than 2% to improve the confidence interval to achieve greater certainty.
But possibly there is a limit on the number they can sequence. Remember, this sequencing they are doing is super scientific and UK is world-leading in this field, but it is highly skilled work and not as simple as running thousands of batches of PCR tests.
Tony - thanks for your thoughts. I follow you on SNG board and love your chart analysis which is often spot-on.
So it’s interesting to see your opinion on Tullow. Personally I think oil taps will go back on, although long-term may be diffferent if govts truly follows climate change strategy, but that will be years ahead.
Agree - very poor taste to stalk the woman on Facebook.
She is a mother with a young daughter, who has been very ill.
Please, no-one try to check on her health progress online. It was very good of her to agree to a TV interview. Let’s not abuse that.
Hi Tony,
Thanks as always for your chart analysis. Interested (worried) about your comment on gold price and potential market sell off. Is there anything you can expand on? Won’t hold you to anything as advice, just interested in your thoughts, especially as I have quite a bit in an oil company which tends to be volatile with market moves.
Great bounce this morning.
Bought some more on way down last week at 67. Back at 67 now this am - phew!
Best tweet I’ve seen for ages :-)
Wish that tech transfer was complete, rather than just “on track” though ...
Fingers crossed it’s very soon.
Jolyon Maugham has just tweeted about the £145m Deloitte contract. Think he must be following Shredz for anything ODX / RTC related.
Someone on LSE already found this a few months ago. I remember it at the time.
DrSam, are your hospital colleagues aware of Synairgen and that they can already get it via MAP?
On another note, I’m sure it must be awful for radiologists seeing so many scans of damaged lungs. Sorry you’re all going through this.
