Yes Brent back to $100 despite the reassurances from the G7 wrt releasing oil reserves to increase supply. That doesn't bode well especially if Iran manages to hit its neighbours oil infrastructure in retaliation, as it seems to be trying to do. I think most analysts outside of Trump's advisers think we will see a protracted period of elevated oil prices. Get those mortgages fixed people.

Still not much shipping getting through the Straits of Hormuz. When will Trump get around to protecting shipping through there? Given that one of his biggest election promises was to not get involved in wars - he said it over and over again - I don't hold out much hope he'll do as he says on this either. A global economic calamity unfolding with the massive rise in oil prices and the Iranians threatening to hit neighbours' oil infrastructure in retaliation for theirs being targeted. Trump says it's worth the pain but there again the Yanks pay less than 4 bucks a gallon! Most commentators seem to think that full regime-change will only happen with a ground invasion so I think that's in the offing and the Iranians have a massive army terms of numbers. Bottom line is that this looks like it's going to run on for a long time. I'm sure also that China is thinking this'll be great time to invade Taiwan! Obviously great for our investments but no reason to celebrate given that people are dying and we have a lunatic in the Whiite House who doesn't have a clue what he's doing. Also, Hegseth is Christian fundamentalist nationalist with tattoos relating to the Crusades on his chest and a nice line in misogyny and white suptemacy. Not sure he's going to limit the scope of this war. Like I said all money in our coffers but dire for the world so nothing to celebrate. Brent could well be $90 by the end of the day. If they don't unblock the Straits of Hormuz pronto it will keep on rising. At $87 atm we are clearing over $17k per day by my reckoning.
