I think of Starlink a bit like Inmarsat. Shipping, disaster areas, remote areas and probably military and governmentsl agencies wanting secure comms.

Connexion. £2 if they can stop the slide in retail sales, £1.30 if they can't. They only have one market so it has to go better than it is just now. They are reducing cost, but that's of limited benefit if sales drop at the same time

BT have a god- given right to dominate UK telecoms. Sales will recover once people realise they should buy from BT because it has "British " in the name. Who are Vodafone anyway?

Toff no doubt Vodafone got it wrong historically, but MDV and board have made a series of good decisions, I think, and the company is now in good shape. Once again you look back rather than forward. They do have high debts but, like telcos the world over, they are looking at much lower operating costs and growing margins. Vodafone have some nice emerging markets: Africa for example and now Iraq. Most telcos don't have that. Most telcos only have saturated markets with little chance of revenue growth- everything pinned on cost savings. This is what makes Vodafone so intriguing.

Avocet 123. You're right I think. Vodafone is out of favour and it's going to take a lot of evidence to bring people in. If this news had come from BT they'd be over £2. Undeservedly I think, but Carlos Slim put in $3 billion, and Bharti bought out Patrick Drahl at 25% of the whole company. That's enough to persuade smaller players and even fund managers to follow suit. And yet BT are slipping ever backwards with their only hope being the Openreach fibre rollout. Vodafone will have to keep getting it right and investors will have to be patient. It's going well. So far so good. At some point the share will take off.

It's interesting how unfashionable Vodafone are compared to BT. Everyone piled into them and yet they are a dog of a business - backing out of overseas markets, losing market share at home. Vodafone look to me like they have made great progress in fixing their business. So why can't they attract the same level of interest?

There's not going to be a 20% upside on Friday. That's daydreaming. There might not be any upside at all. I think 2p. I have a lot of confidence in the direction Vodafone is going in, but it's not going to happen quickly. Not until organic revenue accelerates and operating costs come down. These things are showing through already but it's green shoots. 2025 should prove where Vodafone are going. 2 more quarters of good be ews and the SP will start to rerate

Ginger I'm new to mining stock too. I think this is a decent shout at any tin price. Over the lifespan of the working mine there will be all sorts of fluctuations. The arrival of Trump, geopolitics, industry demand..... so many unknown factors. Cornish Metal seem to be well represented and their local MP is pushing for an adjournment debate to get support for Cornish Miners. From. What i can see, they have a very good chance of getting funding and that will take the share price up above anything up to date. IMHO

I don't think all of it is priced in. It's probably going to pass but there could be delays if Sky manage to be disruptive. For that reason I think there is some holding back going on. Same with Italy. Both these deals need to complete on schedule and then we should see some growth. IMHO

That's what Vodafone seem to be expecting but I'm wondering if there are any Italian spanners in the works? Been quiet for a couple of months now

Does anyone have any knowledge of the sale to Swisscom? I can see articles from September that it had gone to the competition authority in Italy, but i can't see anything since then

It could cause some delay but it looks like negotiation to me rather than opposition. Interesting that O2 did not support Sky.

Arees. You are accusing me of guessing. Your idea about business in India is nothing but a guess. Fantasy even. Vodafone hold a stake in Vodafone Idea, and Indian Telco. It is a very competitive market. What possible role could BT be brought in to play? BT may have an Indian investor, but that doesn't mean they are going to chip away a bit of India market share to give to BT. This is the trouble with BT investors. There seems to be a kind of presumption that they will always get red carpet treatment. Deal with the reality. One market, selling Global Services, market share declining. It's an all- eggs-in-one basket business. They have loads of potential, but they have to stop the attrition

i am not a dreamer and i have no chip on either shoulder. i'd buy bt or vodafone or any other telecom share. not sure i would invest in any other industry as i don't know enough about other sectors. this deramping thing would put david icke to shame. i'm making the point that any company losing market share in their only market is to be treated with caution, especially if the sp is inflating for no obvious reason. i don't give a *****t about the sniping aimed at me. it's your money not mine. if you got in near the recent lows well done you made a good profit. if you were looking to invest for a family member at today's price would not not be just a wee bit nervous. now troll off

Aye. BT are building a great network, that's true. But they are losing market share and shrinking as a money making enterprise. They will only have one market- the UK. Vodafone do have a lot of debt, that's also true, but they have multiple markets to spread the risk. Their main market, Germany, took a hit because of changes to housing association rules, but that's water under the bridge now. Meanwhile in the UK they are winning market share in business sales at pretty much the same rate as BT are losing market share.

This rise makes no sense. The business just posted disappointing H1 figures. Big investors have come on board, but that's no guarantee of anything, as Patrick Drahi has discovered. In a few days the Vodafone/3 merger is likely to be approved and that will put big pressure on EE. The SP is in a bubble. I can see it dropping 5%, back to 140. That's where it belongs until Res and BTB show growth

Daniel: Maybe the share option for staff is fixed at a price? Most share schemes are fixed. In BT you could buy a 3 or 5 year share option, paying up to £250 from your salary each month. The share price was fixed on the date of issue (discounted by 10%). It was an incentive to stay in the business. You could only get the shares at the end of the 3 or 5 year term.

I don't feel negative about Vodafone. Not at all. They look set to grow their revenues and profits, even if the Italy disposal and the 3 merger were to fall through, their underlying numbers are improving organically. I hope they don't but the real strength of the telecom sector is their potential to become AI robots with lower and lower operating costs. The confidence expressed by Vodafone for 25 us the same confidence I read about coming from other telcos. If you dump Voda now, you'll miss the rewards you've waited so long and weary to gain. Give them to the end of 25. I think we will be dissecting a very different business

Encouraging that the drop after H2 has largely recovered. OK maybe the ex-d is helping in that respect, but I still expect the price to recover quickly as the deadline for the merger approaches and looking positive. 7th December for final submissions, isn't it?
