The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
I don't know about the politics, I just know a bit about mining Poly, I hope both companies and workforce doing well out of this.
People are out of touch with Boulby, Most of the conveyors are now 48" or 54" we have new screens, new sizers, new Joy crushers, new shuttle cars on order and regular overhauled miners, we made a mistake with the Sandvik's but were over that. I agree some areas need and are been improved but I don't think were as tired as people think.
well we are about to receive a brand new Komatsu /joy, were all hoping for good results and reliability but Its not just about the mining of Poly its about down time maintaining all your equipment and shaft, Poly is a brutal mineral, I'm not going to post the problems on here. something you need to consider is dust management and access to all deliveries for a machine like a skid steer, with the tonnage your hoping for you will be buried within a week.
I see lots of obviously very clever people on here correct wording, good knowledge of finance but know jack about mining Poly, you will not get 13 million tones a year, unrealistic expectation.
I understand he was working his 30 day notice, he works in safety and Local to Boulby. 17 miles form sirius.
I'm not reading to much in to this but one of the Boulby defectors came running back, got his Job back but then turned it down last minute, Has be been told something positive ?? lets hope so !
Well guys, with the end of the month and with all the fingers crossed for some impending "good news" is it last chance to get these little babies at 3p each ? or at the moment does the risk outweigh the reward, I know it's not big money would it be another £1000 well invested or an I better off putting a deposit down on a nice holiday,
I'm guessing there's a room full of analysts working out a strategy to achieve the tonnage, It's just my opinion, i think the production targets are very optimistic, but hey I'm here to be proved wrong.
As for pumping, we pump well over a million gallons a day. SM will need some good pumps.
There's so much more to it than shaft sinking, you can just start mining out all the ground at pit bottom, Boulby did that and we get a lot of movement in the shaft, you need a storage facility for when your on shaft maintenance or other brake downs, it will take time to drive roadways to establish the production districts, I'm not sure what miners Sm are using, Im guessing long walling with the production targets, Komatsu used to be Joy are very good but I can only see 1000 t (ish) a shift, I hope Sandvik does not get mentioned.
oops 10,13,20Mt :)
I love it when 10,13,10 million tonnes gets mentioned, keep it up. :)
We do get salt bands and occasionally have to stow the Poly due to it been out or spec, all headings get probed every shift to ensure the quality and direction, the seam can be unpredictable and sometimes very gassy, H2S.
At Boulby, we have 4 districts, we only blast 1 district is blasting, the rest is full face, One of the main problems we have encountered is developing the cutting head's pick profile, very expensive and time consuming, were getting there with new auger heads and new methods of mining were "ramping" up all the time.
Members, your the one who is crying brother !
Go on members, get it all off your chest, you will feel so much better for it, but then again you might be better telling someone who gives a dam. try the Samaritans.
Well in all honesty, in building an extension, I only managed to check the price twice, I have enough shares, but if it goes in to the 2's ill buy more, I don't want it to go in to the 2's, I would rather be in the 20's , it's payday weekend to lets see where we are at on Monday.
Very impressive, There's quite a few questions I would like to ask but I'll refrain, it certainly looks the part.
I've got my avarage down to 8p now, If it drops to 2p I'm gonna do something stupid and smash another grand on it then hope for the best, not buying anymore after that.
Fingers crossed
Zerocool, why don't you go and stick your head in it :)
Poly plus or poly 4 is in it's very early stages of development, it's already getting excellent results from allover the world, once the girls and boys who know unlock it's potential and and make specific blends for individual crops or types of ground it will be in serious demand.
