The MP's decline raises mining dreams
JOKKMOKK / LULEÅ Mining project in Norrbotten has stuck on the government board. Now the mining industry's organization Swemin hopes that the environmental party's bad elections will open for more mines.
It is important that we get a government that can decide on mining issues. We can say that the Environment Party and Social Democrats have been in a government now and they have had difficulty agreeing to mining issues, "said Per Ahl, CEO of Swemin, to Radio Norrbotten.
Indeed, the indecision has meant that the government has not taken a stand for processing concession for Laver i Älvsbyn Municipality and Kallak in Jokkmokks Municipality. According to Radio Norrbotten, there are a total of four mining values in Sweden that have been lying.
"Our image is that the Environmental Party has created a political lock that has prevented the establishment of the iron ore mine in Kallak. And in our perspective it is very unfortunate, we need more jobs, "says Jokkmokks municipal council Robert Bernardsson (S) to Radio Norrbotten.
Previously, along with Luleå municipality council Niklas Nordström (S), he criticized the management of the county administrative board and demanded that Minister of Industry, Mikael Damberg (S) act to break the long bench.
The environmental party decreases from 25 to 16 mandates in the parliament, and it is very unclear what influence the party gets in politics during the forthcoming term of office.
The view that MP's decline affected may affect the mining industry is shared by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation - but it is rather about concern.
"It is clear that there is a point in that a reduced voice for a specific measure also means less pressure. I think it would be a great pity if that kind of environmental issues could stagger on other issues, "says Johanna Sandahl, chairman of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, to Radio Norrbotten.
