Jeff, you really need to stop relying on those IG charts. Free interactive charts available on uk.investing and cnbc. Oil found a bit of late relief to get back above 70 ….rumours that the prelim data shows that vaccines still work on omnicron but slightly less efficacy , Israel ministry of health will make an announcement soon…let’s hope the insiders bought that dip…Good luck

Yep need to hold around here, few highs from Oct and Mid Nov in the 385-387 area, to establish a new range upto 420….

Hey , currently away so not at my PC but have bought some 78s in Brent on what was the main dip support buying area…see how far I let it run! HBR holding up better than it’s peers which a positive sign and OPEC next week, will provide the antidote no doubt! Back to my bunker 3es and TWO Ls. Good luck

Talking of gaps Jefffwith an extra f, you see that one at 1215ish on the charts from when the Saudis opened up the taps and dropped their OSPs over a weekend? Something to aim for but realistically looking for 668 in the short term now that as OneDB pointed out we are above the 200d MA. Oil looks cheap , only a proper lockdown can spoil the party. Charts look a bit sick but a little overdone. The clue was the close under the 50d and the failure to break the highs from the previous 2 days., annoying day stopped out on my crude, but will buy the dip once more when we get a signal from the hourly candles and stochastic…S&P feels like a dip but as well with fresh stimulus on the way and great reversal stick on the hourlies off the lows. All gaps get filled eventually…but could also be weeks, months, years down the line. Ideally want a breakaway gap at the start of a bigger move after a period of consolidation. Then the measuring gap and finally the exhaustion gap when the buying drys up…looks like you’re using the IG charts, which tend to use their own data rather than the official stock market trades

Yep slight disappointing that gap at 366.20 didn’t close but could still call it a breakaway gap for what looks like the start of a wave 3 . Also a gap needs filling back above from this mornings action. Plenty of option activity in the 80-85 area, which is probably why we retraced do quickly to back above 80 in Brent this am…nice bullish candlestick developing should we close the day anywhere above current levels. And bullish engulfing on the 4 hourlies. Stochastic now crossed and turned higher on the daily and the 4 hour lies also a positive sign but ideally need to get back above the 50 d ma 81.15ish to add to the dip buying. HBR bounced off its 50d this am also encouraging with divergence on the RSIs from the mic Oct high. Good luck

Have to agree with Jeff on this one, the dip will get bought, trend is on the slow nudge up. Few weeks ago the oil dump would have put this back at the 345-350 buy zone. Some of that ceiling pressure seems to have dissipated for now and we know that some institutions are adding. Your only caveat is a production miss like enq…but the advantage of debt reduction here and a gassy portfolio

The co-ordinated SPR release pure jawboning once more. US already releasing and 20-30mmb is less than 1/3 of a days oil demand. China taking about releasing a similar amount to their last release. 7.8mmb last time which was token and this time will be products to feed the current diesel crunch. Chinese refineries have been asked to up rates so pretty much negated. Japan has no interest in releasing barrels nor Europe. India needs to save the barrels for tougher days. And as always the oil needs to be sold back to the SPR as only loans. All dips on previous chatter have been bought. OPEC+ still firmly in control…winter lockdowns the hope for the bears, or interest rate rises to strengthen the dollar .. Good Luck all

The whole sector certainly catching a bid today, money moving back into energy. Chinese and OECD stocks showing massive draws again, and the us infrastructure sign off certainly helps keep oil on the front foot

Just waiting for a certain member to now declare their length now that they have retired their alternative aggressive bashing avatar….if I had a pound for all the bb members that have constantly moaned and then press the nuclear button declaring they’ve had enough and sold out…didn’t members sign out off in similar fashion….so tedious…. Plenty of sells/offloads to absorb to get back upto 400 level, but agree will get there.
