In a nutshell, affimers are disruptive tech, the small size means they can not only replace antibodies but are far superior. I’m not surprised the paper included disclaimers that some of them own Awacta shares! Tomlinson lab are having a field day with affimers, great stuff. Another candidate for a lot of bumping on the chat all day today, absolutely incredible discoveries. Let’s get this Covid thing out of the way and get cancer sorted!

We’ve wandered down this road before with guesstimates ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. If you want a warm cost feeling then use RK’s 1.4Bn per month and use RK’s margin of £5 margin. That’ll bank us a sweet £7Bn a month gross margin. The truth will depend on the quality of the test and only time will tell. I’m 100% confident the actual revenue will be somewhere between £0 and £7Bn per month.

Similarly to the broker notes, it’s very difficult not to come up with very silly numbers very easily. It will depend on how good the test is, if it truly is ‘the best’ then you could imagine govts ordering enough for several national testing events to get on top of it as well as stockpiling for the winter. Just 5 tests per person in the UK would bring in £325m. Add in the US. Never mind the globe. Then consider airports, cruises etc. Without much effort the numbers become huge. For that reason I’d be more bullish. I’m guessing a leap to a fiver initially and once the true potential and commercials emerge, I wouldn’t be shocked by a tenner. By then the cancer trials come in to play and who knows what might happen with the Covid therapy in the meanwhile. Unbelievable potential, but I’d agree, the base valuation would slip below today’s price if the Covid tests don’t come to fruition.

Yeah, given the long queue for the placing you’d anticipate confidence in Awacta to deliver. This tantalising wait is agonising though!

Yes, I’ve had similar nagging doubts about the LFD having read Zoe’s thesis, but the research paper from yesterday gave some confidence it should be possible. It’s clear it’s a challenging process, they don’t just receive affimers and slap them on a strip like jam. Obviously it’s out of Awacta’s hands now so I’d imagine Sir Al is chomping at the bit as much as everyone else. As Sir Al said in yesterday’s video, we’ve several shots at goal so at least the current share price should be underpinned. Certainly plenty hope, I’d love it, love it if next week is the one we’ve been waiting for.

You mentioned you'd topped up, you feeling better now then? I would have taken part in the placing but didn't have the cash. I think I followed the same path as you, disappointment, annoyance and anger followed by the admittance that it puts Awacta in a stronger position for the short term in any negotiations and more capable of responding to demand, and for the long term as they have plenty funding to accelerate the cancer work. I obviously still have some residual annoyance at the clear manipulation, but it's history now.

Can't argue with that one Chengdo, I've been branded by the Mole and there's no scrubbing it off. One day all will be revealed...
