Think I'll use this moniker. Sir Al doesn't seem apt anymore - he'll need to get that test out there selling in the many millions before he deserves that back.

1 - There wasn't a rumour of a placing. They knew and shorted this down to the placing level. I feel sorry for anyone that bought at the highs, but the dilution isn't huge and...
2 - The placing being available to retail investors suggests that they expect news to drop soon that will propel the share price above the placing price, otherwise they won't sell a single share to a retail investor. Sir Al is trying to redeem himself a bit here to give something back. If they drop a huge RNS then expect it to be massively oversubscribed and you might be lucky to get 1 or 2 shares, but it's something.
