RE: vaccine study dates13 Nov 2020 09:48
Chengdo, I tried posting this on the other thread, but the thread has been removed...
The impact of the Pfizer vaccine was hugely overdone given the ongoing need for testing and especially mass screening. We've heard from awacta who have given their view that it does not change the demand for testing. The arrival of a phase III results from vaccine trials wasn't a surprise, they were due earlier but delayed to ensure they didn't benefit Trump (allegedly). The surprise was the 90% figure - but based on an interim set of results that haven't been peer reviewed and there isn't a full understanding of how safe or useful it is, for example stopping transmission, across age ranges. There probably will be a reaction to other vaccine news, but that's fuelled by the self fulfilling belief there will be a reaction. Given the reality that Tech Transfer and LFD news can drop at any time, I know that if I tried to be clever and trade Awacta would choose the moment I'm out to release an RNS. Given the disaster of my lunchtime walk that meant I missed it all last time, I can't guarantee I'd be able to react so my plan remains the same, hold and hope for the best.
