Ramp..I think thats the point, the risk reward on Poly is worth the interest. We, none of us, know the political landscape and how it will play out, truth be told I don't think those in power do either, it's a make it up as they go along scenario.

But irrefutably this is a worthwhile investment, at these prices, with regard to company fundamentals.

Silver bars have piled up at Russia's Polymetal (POLY) as it seeks new export destinations to replace Europe, it said on Thursday, adding the bullion accounts for 5% of its annual sales.

Polymetal has not been directly targeted by Western sanctions imposed on Moscow after it sent thousands of troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24.

But in common with other Russian commodity producers it has suffered an impact as Western banks and shippers have reduced dealing with Russian companies even if they are not legally bound by sanctions law.

"Silver bullion inventory continues to accumulate absent reliable export channels and a non-existent domestic market. Discussions are under way with a variety of commercial and industrial international buyers," Polymetal said in a statement.

The company's sales of gold bullion and concentrate from Kazakhstan continue as usual and sales of gold bullion and concentrates from Russia to Asia have returned to regular schedules after a significant COVID-related slowdown in April-May, it said.

The logistics challenges have slowed inventory turnover and inflated selling costs for Polymetal, the miner said, adding it expected the gap between its production and sales to peak in September.

A strong rouble, which is near a seven-year high versus the U.S. dollar - following capital controls and a sharp drop in imports of goods - and logistical challenges have increased Polymetal's capital expenditure, the miner said.

Polymetal said it is on track to produce 1.7 million troy ounces of gold equivalent, a mix of gold and other metals, in 2022.

It does not sell any of its products to the Russian central bank, directly or indirectly, it added.

As mentioned elsewhere, I think the Reuters article about EU mentioning specifically gold sanctions has spooked a few. It would seem the EU aren't all singing from the same hymn sheet regarding a 7th set of sanctions. The meeting is not specific to gold and is just a routine meeting, not sanction specific. It will however be discussed. It may also not pertain to Poly's activities or particular listing.

My feeling is that we will see SP drop to the 125-140 support region before news of the meeting outcome. My gut tells me not to DCA before news. But my gut also says there's a large possibility it won't affect poly directly.

"A person familiar with the work on sanctions told Reuters the European Commission was working on adding gold to a possible next round, although it was not yet clear whether the measure could ban exports to Russia, imports from Russia or both".

All very ambiguous.

I think the company and indeed the MM's are playing a somewhat sensible game at the moment, if the SP pumped and ended up on the institutional radar or in private investor media, it could potentially bring the wrong attention and be sanctioned further or delisted. The sentiment for anything vaguely Russian doing well at the moment would not be seen with favourable eyes politically.

That's not to say that there's likely larger holders scrolling out due to risk profile and those shares being bought with more appetite for risk.

Sometimes best just to stay quiet and keep your head below the parapet until the environment is more favourable.

Don't be so short sighted:

Russia and China signed a massive energy deal over the summer. A $400 billion contract for Russia to supply China with gas. If that was not monumental enough, the two nations signed another agreement in November.
What is important to note between the lines is that the countries will bypass the US dollar and pay each other in their domestic currencies. With Russia’s rich abundance of resources and the Chinese low-cost labor and manufacturing business, this will be a critical relationship in the future.
The emerging-market BRICS – made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa – have started bypassing the dollar altogether. The nations have established a competitor to the Western-backed IMF, The New Development Bank.
The Eastern hemisphere and leadership are growing with an anti-dollar alliance.
Investors will understand that this was an inevitable sequence bound to happen sooner than later. With the sanctions America has imposed on countries such as Iran and Russia, the rest of the developing world does not want their growth hindered by American imperialism.
In fact, there are 23 (60% of the world’s GDP) countries that are setting up swap lines that bypass the dollar and SWIFT payment system, the dollar-based worldwide transaction network. The countries that are setting up swap lines are also US allies such as Germany, France, and the UK.

It comes down to this, we the western audience see Putin painted as the "beast", the rest of the emerging markets see Russia as the saviour against the global bullies, which has been the case for centuries. These emerging markets are seeing the last roll of the dice for the old guard, waiting for the moment to transition away in safety and numbers...signalling the new era and emerging super powers. China, India...it's just time.

To think that Russia will be stifled to any degree for very long with better deals coming along daily for their resources, you'd be missing the larger picture. It won't be Europe or the USA who'll have the last say....unfortunately. What has been before....doesn't necessarily stand tomorrow, we are at a time of transition, place your bets wisely.
