Castle, we should not be commenting on this discussion board about specific private individuals' buying or selling transactions. Each individual should be free to buy or sell whatever they want without being discussed in public.

It's not PHE who are going to be operating the DMG. They are going to be licensing the technology to their customers, so the feedstock will be whatever the customers need to process, not what PHE wants to process.

Next news is likely to be about the Australian NH2 company, or Ballymena in Northern Ireland.

I agree Castle. The DMG is not going to be processing mixed plastic waste out of household black bags. But having said that, if you threw all of that mixed waste into a DMG hopper, it would pulverise the lot, but probably wouldn't produce very efficient syngas from the mixture.

As far as I know the only separation of plastics that would be required would be to separate recyclable from non-recyclable, and that is already done at the plastic waste management facilities, which clearly has to be done in order to segregate the plastics that need to go for recycling.

Divvyup, not sure what you mean by "mixed plastics". The DMG can process any type of plastic , although we know that it will go through a shredder before being fed into the hopper. The DMG is intended to be used for non-recyclable plastics only simply because no-one wants recyclable plastic to be turned into gas or energy, it needs to be put to recycling instead.

It has never been suggested by PHE that the DMG would be used to process mixed household waste.

Castle is correct when he says that PHE will not have to sort and "wash" the feedstock. Waste management and recycling facilities already separate the recyclable plastics from the non-recyclable, which they clearly have to do before they can recycle anything! The non-recyclable plastics will then be delivered to the DMG facility for processing, which will be much more favourable than the current disposal methods of being sent for incineration or landfill or shipped overseas for "recycling" which really means burning or throwing into the sea.

Also there will be no need to wash the plastic before shredding and processing in the DMG because any contaminates will be "gasified" along with the plastic.

PHE is only interested in processing non-recyclable plastics so the more efficient the sorting and separation processes become the better for PHE. There will always be plastics that are unsuitable for recycling and which have to be incinerated or landfilled or shipped overseas for disposal, and these are the products that can be more efficiently disposed of through the DMG technology. A DMG disposes of these unwanted plastics (or tyres) cleanly and without causing pollution to the atmosphere or to the land or the sea.

Maybe they could use a few DMG plants here in the UK instead of shipping these "recycling" tyres overseas!

I wonder how much they have to pay India to take these tyres for disposal, and how much does it cost for the shipping? Surely a DMG would pay for itself in no time!

You also have to take cost of delivery of the hydrogen into account, not just cost of production.
