Seems to be something wrong with the RNS feed this morning - again!

As I've said before several times, I think PHE needs to wait until it gets the independent verification before it shouts too loudly from the rooftops so that it has something to back up its claims. At the moment it would probably encounter a considerable amount of scepticism from organisation such as the BBC or even the government, as they will have heard many claims from others in the past.

They should focus on the business instead of dicking around with the shares and consolidations.

That RNS yesterday must be one of the most stupid moves ever.

@jgbb123: I wouldn’t expect investors to fall over themselves until we get the results of the independent verification of the system. As far as i’m concerned, everything hinges on that right now.

ITM have just announced opening their seventh hydrogen refuelling station in the UK, on the M4 corridor. Hydrogen is produced on site using renewable electricity. The project is supported by Toyota, Hyundai and Honda.

I don’t know how much it costs ITM to produce the hydrogen, but it would be interesting to compare it with PHE’s estimated cost per kilo. I wonder if their projects are being subsidised financially by the car manufacturers during the early stages of development.

So what has happened to the Middleburg acquisition? I thought that was nearing completion ages ago, now they say it is still an acquisition option. That doesn’t sound like a done deal to me.

Bear in mind that ETQ have got a MOU and not a contract at this stage. PHE already have several MOUs.

For once I am inclined to agree with you, sellonnews. I think we ought to wait for the independent verification of the system, which I hope will be out and positive in the next few weeks, then we will have something we can shout about, with justification.

Seems to me that SRSP keep pushing the blame onto COSL by implying that they are also in the dark and that COSL is not telling them what is going on with the rig. If that really is the implication, then I don’t believe it for a second. There is no way that this situation would be allowed to carry on without regular communication between SRSP and COSL, and indeed also involving the other members of the consortium.

Furthermore, I can’t think of any justification for not informing the shareholders of what is going on.

Ten years is a long time and lots can happen. If the technology works as expected, and if the demand for hydrogen fuel for vehicles really takes off, I see not reason why there should not be at least 200 units in the UK over that time period. In fact, I would expect more.

But a lot of things need to come together to make that happen. Increasing pressure to reduce waste plastic and car tyres; increasing pressure to reduce fossil fuels and move on to renewable energy; and of course the price has to be competitive.

My average cost is 8.7p so I need the SP to rise by a factor of 3.5x just to break even, then Id like a little bit on top of that!

But it could happen, I guess.

Thing is, PHE will only need to transport hydrogen in some cases, e.g. if they are running supplies to service station forecourts. But I suspect that in most cases they will be producing the hydrogen where it is needed e.g. in or adjacent to a depot for buses, lorries, vans, trains, whatever. Producing hydrogen for service station forecourts is, at the moment, the domain of ITM who produce the hydrogen on site using electrolysis, and I would expect this to become the norm using renewable electricity. It's horses for courses, really.

However this new development relating to ammonia is probably of more interest to AFC than to PHE.

Zippy, you're even more ambitious than me! Anyway, I've set a buy "limit" at 8.10 so it will be interesting to see if I get any at that price. If not, no worries, I've got plenty already anyway.
