In view of the Odey letter, isn't the most likely consequence of a "no" vote an improved offer from AAL, rather than administration?

If so, 7p would be enough for Odey, but that is unlikely to satisfy most other shareholders. So a difficult judgement for AAL...

Why would a white knight wait for a "no vote"? Better to precipitate it by riding to the rescue NOW!

Most PIs own their shares through a nominee broker, which can be a problem. For example, if the impending vote is anything like Flybe’s farcical EGM in December 2018, brokers will fail to give PIs the opportunity to cast their votes. I suggest PIs who want to vote call their brokers ASAP and push them for a proxy form, or whatever system they use.

"To save the company" sounds like an excuse they might give to staff to soften the blow of redundancy.

The share price is being affected by an overreaction to the Coronavirus: if you scale down the Chinese numbers to UK proportions, you're talking about just 1,000 cases and 20 deaths (less than for flu).

So a good buying opportunity now for those who haven't yet dipped in or topped up.

Another reassuring trading update from what has become a solid, tightly-controlled business. SP ought to be back up in the mid-teens, but the limited proportion of shares in the hands of the public makes the SP volatile and unpredictable. Nevertheless, I would expect the SP to break out from the low teens some time this year.

I'd expect the new CEO to start building his stake asap, but with the publication of annual results due in early April, we may now be in a close period.

He would have been similarly constrained in the run up to the recent trading update.

So there may have been a small window for him last week. If he took advantage of that, we should get an RNS at any moment.

The pre-RNS panic which took it down from around 50p was unjustified, so what's to stop it now climbing back up to around 50p?

SP dropping to 43p doesn't make much sense, except if the market thinks the new CEO will be playing down the recovery in order to give himself a lower base at the start of his tenure. So there should be a nice bounce from that level in due course.

The company IS coming good, but SLOWLY, partly due to delays at the customer end, which can't be helped.

Amazing how SP nearly always reacts BEFORE the announcement these days - where are the regulators? - so in theory the SP should not be greatly affected today. But with low turnover, it could go anywhere. It may even be up by the end of the day, partly on increased vulnerability to a takeover following this latest delay to the long-awaited recovery.

Barclays today reiterates overweight with a target price of 290p.

There's no stopping this share at the moment! With forecast EPS of around 15p, an undemanding 20 P/E implies an SP of £3.

Flybe is going cap in hand to the government apparently. But with 3 big backers, why is that necessary? It would have made more sense a year ago when Flybe first got into difficulties. Let's hope Branson now gets the karma he deserves.

I find it odd that no indication was given in the SXX RNS about whether they had been in discussions with all other potential bidders apart from AAL. However, it looks like they have been, but haven't got very far with other potential bidders, and don't expect to, otherwise CF wouldn't be so positive about recommending a firm but derisory 5.5p offer from AAL (unless the main benefit of an AAL bid from his point of view would be his own job security!).

However, both SXX's and AAL's RNSs admit of the possibility of another bidder coming out of the woodwork. We can only hope that the announcement of the AAL potential bid will galvanise them into action, and prove CF wrong.
