All this waiting for the court case to be resolved is like waiting for your exam results to come. We did all the work, but has it brought the right result. A successful outcome will be good news. A bad outcome just means Plan B and more hard work to turn it around.
The case is crucial but I'm looking at what comes next. I've been here for 3 years and can wait a few more years for the good times to fully return. To receive a large payout will bring a spike to the share price. It's what they do with it that will really grow the business and shareholder value.
Let's hope for good news.
Vlad reposted an article on Linkedin. A summary is:
Alex Karp CEO of Palantir. “Short sellers just love pulling down great American companies so they can pay for their coke.”
Their shares are up 47% this year.
When a stock goes up, short sellers are on the hook to buy back shares, potentially at a huge loss.
“The best thing that could happen to them is we will lead their coke dealers to their homes after they can’t pay their bills,” Karp said. “You know, do your thing, we’ll do our thing.”
I think Vlad shares these sentiments.
Our former investor relations person, Mandy Cowling is starting a new job as Event Manager at The Jockey Club. I believe this is at the Newmarket racecourse. Something totally different for her. Wishing her well.
I know it's not Novacyt related now, but for those who knew of her, it is of some interest.
Yesterday wasn't good. Today has been terrible. What's next. I don't know but whatever it is, it's coming soon.
Following the RNS announcement the proportion of the company I own from my shares is reduced. I hope Vlad spends the placing money well and is able to grow the business substantially. If he does, my reduced share of a larger business will make me happier. May those Car-T trials happen soon and be very successful.
You can waste a lot of time during a day, tracking HEMO share prices. I have set up an alert on HL to tell me a significant price increases (never thought to ask for significant price decreases!) so I should switch off and do something more productive. I hope Vlad and the team are not being distracted by all of this. We need them to press on with the trials and other research.
We’ve all been wondering why the share price hasn’t increased more than it has. It has doubled since last August, but it’s resting at about 3p. For big investors to come in, they have to decide if any pharma share is a gamble or a good business proposition. Before the clinical hold was lifted I think HEMO was probably seen as a gamble (albeit an exciting one). Now we have moved further along the scale towards it becoming a good business proposition but perhaps not far enough to attract many people in. Are people waiting for the funding news (which would help us move even further) or are they hanging on to see some positive results from the testing? Once we know our CAR T works in people then it’s a no brainer. If there is competition for our products within the wider Pharma industry big-boys then they need to take a bit of a gamble themselves and get in early.
I’ve been here for 3 years. For my investment there are no dividends. There is the altruistic part of my investment hoping it contributes to peoples welfare. Financially I can only look for an increase in share price. I don’t know how long funding news will take and I guess it could be many months before news of test results will be released. So I need to be manage my expectations, be patient and prepare for the good news to arrive in a few months. Expecting it in a day or two is a bit optimistic in my view.
Haywain’s recent posts put it all into context though.
Ventura1. It's an interesting point if everyone is heading for the door on completion of a successful court case and the effect that would have on the share price! As a company they have spent so long trying to pick themselves up off the floor. I hope the next trading update will show we are on the upwards trajectory at long last and I hope they are making plans on how to make best use of the funds, if the judge decides in our favour. I'd really want the company to make me believe I'd mad to sell my shares and that even better times are ahead. You can't beat a bit of optimism.
John2015, I thought they announced that the court case would be heard on 10 June 2024 rather than 2025. I guess it was just a typo. I can't wait that long to recoup my losses (looking at the case positively)!
WBAFC. Like you, I’ve learned quite a lot about investing in shares. Spreading your investments is so important. I stupidly held on to my shares when the price was dropping from my £3 average because I didn’t want to realise a loss on my investment and I believed the positive things that so many people shared on this board. I knew shares prices could be volatile but didn’t expect them to keep dropping to such low levels. People who bailed out did well as it turned out. Having said all that I am more confident for NCYT in 2024. YGEN acquisition and the general confidence around the court case makes me more relaxed. I’m not sure how long it would take to get back to £3 but any improvement in the share price will reduce my paper losses. Don’t spend all year worrying about it. There is nothing you can do about it so focus on the positive things in your life.
As reported by Larry, Investor Relations are changing. Mandy has left. She commented on Linkedin as follows:
Well that's a wrap, after 11 years with Novacyt its my time to get off this rollercoaster, but what an incredible journey its been . . .
I have worked with some outstanding peers and leadership over the years that have given me the opportunity to flourish and for that I will be eternally grateful. I am walking away with a bucketful of memories which I will cherish and look back on fondly. Now its time for the next chapter, whatever that may be!
We can wish her well in the future.
Trying to guess when RNS's will land is entertaining. If everyone on this board agreed when for example, the clinical hold would be lifted, we would be very lucky if we were to get it right. It will happen when it happens. Watch and wait.
Many have a lot of money tied up in this share. A profit will be nice, but seeing the treatments making a difference to peoples lives will be the icing on the cake for me.
Thanks Kaeren. Funnily enough, after LSE telling me they were working on a solution, my laptop no longer has the problem. At least I can read the posts without the adverts blocking my view. I don't mind a certain number of adverts as it keeps the website free of charge, but they overdo it now. I shall make a note of Adblock Fast and install if the problem returns. Thanks again.
I've just had a reply from LSE about the problem with adverts.
Hi Peter. Thank you for leaving a review and apologies for the issue you've been experiencing. The issue regarding website adverts covering content is something that we're looking to resolve, and should hopefully be fixed quite soon as this is not something that should be happening anywhere on the website.
This is not a workaround, although some months ago, somebody did suggest one. I've since forgotten what they said.
I use LSE on my laptop and the adverts on the righthand side of my screen obscure the messages that people post. I just minimised my screen so LSE only covered a third of my screen and I could read the posts okay. It is a real nuisance though.
