Anyone remember Afren - good to see sentencing at last - though jail's too good for those two hideous specimens of human protoplasm. Where's the money hidden I wonder....?

Spec - Hum - been in there a long time was looking at it only yesterday and thinking 'they've gone a bit quiet'. Don't have much left now anyway (thankfully) so may have a sniff if it takes another beating tomorrow.

I know I've posted about the AGM before but we were chatting on the Twitter group earlier (not that I go on twitter very much mind you) - I made some comments re my thoughts after attending, and someone asked me to repost them here, so....:

'It was all just stuff which gives confidence. Like that they have no intention of placing stock at a discount (and not at all at these levels) and that when they do it's likely to be to an II or jv partner, that Mercuria 2 is just a question of dotting 'i's and crossing 't's, that there is new interest post BP - which has given credibility to the company in the eyes of potential institutional investors and international jv partners, Blueberry is world class (I spoke to Craig Harvey and his enthusiasm about it was electric) and that diamonds in Zim (new and heritage) will likely be massive (again, CH). It's all good, just need the market to wake up (and I suspect perhaps a more understanding Nomad and MMs who don't wantonly depress the share - but that's another story).'

Starvest - they were at pains to explain yesterday that any placement - if and when the time comes - would be at a higher level than today's sp and at a premium not a discount to the prevailing share price especially if to an II or commercial investor.

And, just to be clear, for what it's worth, i've come away today feeling very happy with my investment and confident that my money is in good hands. Happier than Ive felt in a long time in fact. Nothing 'inside' just a feeling.

Pepco I totally agree - and that's why I have always also thought that there's an argument for splitting the company into two separate entities (Zim and Rom) whereby 2+2= a lot more than 5 - because there will always be investors who won't touch Africa/Zim and others who won't touch Rom for whatever reason. But in fairness I think that's a while away yet.

Yrab yes it's a 'Russian System' of resource rating estimation. Jorc is an Australian code (but also internationally recognised). Hence your understandable confusion between 'Russian' and 'Romanian'. I'm no expert but have heard some say that the Russian system is actually more thorough as Cast says.

Pepco your reasoning isn't unreasonable (so to speak) but reality is different - there are many many companies and shares where valuations and share price levels are way higher than Vast's which have been achieved in anticipation of (rather than achievement of) JORC/production figures. I think few would disagree that a £30-odd million Mcap in Vast's instance is simply and hugely wrong given the known asset base (and not just 'wing and prayer' revenue projections like many others).

Schmoops, VM - that DS note and target price would equate to over 1.2p allowing for dilution since then. And they didn't include Marange, Blueberry and all the other good stuff that's happened since then so it would most likely be 2p+ If repeated today.
