I do think a replacement offtake may be closer and easier than people think - don't forget an agreement is being done for Blueberry and I don't think I'm speaking out of turn when I say I gather they are using a different offtake partner to Merc for it (and it guess it no longer matters in any case!) so there was a foot in the door already. Diamonds are are the second easiest route to quick cash so let's hope for that letter from the Croc asap - that would be a game changer.

Kieran - well put. I've not posted here for a while (various reasons) but still here, suffering like everyone else. We're all frustrated but 'we are where we are'. Personally I too will vote yes to all except the Bergen resolution. The other resolutions are critical for getting some very significant assets to work.

I agree that the RNS as released was pretty shocking on first view. But on reflection you almost need to read into what the RNS 'doesn't' say as much as what is does say.
Bergen needs firing off and I for one will be voting that resolution down - hopefully by the time of the vote it will be an irrelevance in any case. I for one would feel much happier if the Sub Saharan parasite was eliminated from the picture too. I think we need an update on where we are with it.
However it looks like a plan is now in place for diamonds and we already knew that it's a very short road map to potentially huge revenue and profits/cashflow which will pay down loans and preclude the need for issue of shares to cover it.
That said. our BoD really need to get some good news out and sharpish.

Hi TBTT - agree on all counts except for the commercial loan option - I'd seriously question whether 'conventional' commercial banking routes are open to Vast (yet). I also think that all this talk of 'will Bergen do this, will Bergen do that' is pointless - Bergen are a shark tank and will do whatever nets them the biggest profit. So we'd be right to fear a situation where Merc fail to complete in the timeframe and if a 'palatable!' plan B isn't fully in place with a green button ready to press. We must live in hope!

For my part I'm still here, still a LTH but I've ceased commenting or contributing.
All I would say is that bridge finance is fine - albeit expensive which is also fine so long as the external cost is outweighed by the internal economic benefit - which it would potentially appear to be here - and only punitive (again, or so it would appear in this instance) if you don't pay it back on time.

Just musing re DeBeers - could be political posturing, could be that they think that the potential rates of return might dilute their other diamond operations, but perhaps there's a bigger agenda on the go - remember that they are owned by Anglo American these days, who would make an interesting jv 'big brother' partner in a number of other ways not just diamonds for a company like Vast. That's just me thinking aloud by the way not ramping (just fantasy eh, Fantasy lol!)

TBTT agree - amazed at the lukewarm reaction to both shares (and lack of RNSs - I also think that DeBeers' reaction has a political rather than economic/commercial background). Any other share would be up 100% on this news lol.

Actually I see what you mean re ambiguity. I meant 'exercise of warrants with a strike price above the prevailing share price' ie out-of-the-money. It's early Sunday morning! Can I go and walk my dogs now?

By the way I think people are misreading the warrant thing. People exerckse warrants at below price for all sorts of reasons be it probate, wanting to take a tax loss, clearing out a portfolio or account etc etc - also unsophisticated reaction to those letters from brokers. I doubt it often has much to do with a view of the company's propspects or share price.. just my view!

Fantasy - I've no issue whatsoever with people putting forward reasoned researched views - positive or negative - you say I'm a novice but I've over 30 years' experience as an equity analyst so I think I know a fair bit about what to look for and can see the negative issues here as well as the positives (I happen to think the latter far outweigh the former as it happens but that's just my researched opinion which I rarely share and I certainly never make price predictions). It's unreasoned deramping (Which I agree is just as bad as unreasoned ramping) which I find objectionable, and in-fighting on a bb surely doesn't exactly help to encourage a would be new investor.

Frankly I don't know why you do keep bringing it up right now. It's an irrelevance currently (and Andrew knows that). If I was a new investor looking at this board I'd see a sea of negative fighty attitude (mainly from you TCup) and none of the fantastic opportunity and value which is being created here which most of the rest of us would like to promote. On the basis that there's often a direct and inverse correlation between amount of in-fighting on a bulletin board and share price performance, I'd run a mile. And that's a pity.

TBTT - hear hear! I too would be very happy to see Andrew become a billionaire, if he does it means that I too will have made a great deal of money - and so will all the other real holders here with positions big or small and who have supported through thick and thin. That's how it'/s supposed to work isn't it. In my book anyway.

Applegarth - although I'm no expert I do know that the supply of rough diamonds is basically controlled by DeBeers. They appoint people called 'sights' as middlemen to whom they sell parcels of rough diamonds (up to USD25m value each parcel) at auctions which they arrange about 10 times a year. The agreement with the 'sights' is that they basically never refuse to take the diamonds offered, and de beers basically controls the flow so that prices are kept within an agreed price range which the cartel decides. It's a very closed business.
