Have to agree Major. Trump is keeping rabbits in his hat for the election run up. That’s the risk-reward play we can all evaluate and take a side on.

Sanctions are starting to bite hard in Iran and some of their illegal oil exports have been attacked recently like the lorry convoy in Syria - I think it’s a retaliatory move on their part. Around that area the oil supply routes and infrastructure are easy targets.

Mexico bent, understandably. China has many cards to play in negotiations so both will have to bend- trump knows this, just waiting for the right moment pre-election.

Trumps announced a deal has been done with Mexico so some uncertainty has been taken out, if only China were that easy!

Now shorts are 5.21%, Odey reduced by 1.84% two days ago. The impact of the new shares rather than genuine shorts closing I think.

Whose noticed metro has dropped out of the top 5? It had been there so long. Bit of an overstatement as two companies dropped below the 0.5% threshold but still, about time it moved in that direction.

Trump’s re-election needs a strong economy so he will move heaven and earth to achieve that - it’s what he sees as his specialty and his main focus by far. Also, the majority of economists are not pro-trump and bias may creep in given economic forecasting is notoriously tricky. Forecasting needs to make many assumptions, Trump will change direction in an instant if needed - such dynamic behaviour can make a mockery of even quite recent forecasts.

So trump got the fed to play ball in the end, be interesting to see if this is the case. No doubt a trade deal after a rate cut and all in the run up to the elections is probably trump’s plan

If you’re trading in an oil company registered on the LSE then you can’t react to price moves in oil outside market hours. The issue is using a company as a proxy for trading oil, rather than trading it directly. Outside market hours, you could trade oil as a hedge to your stock holding but that is not really for PIs.

I’ve noticed from last week the livecharts Brent price is always higher than the price quoted on HL, wondered what changed? Or is one a futures price? Their definitely not the same that’s for sure.

Annoying that opposition to trumps wall causes him to seek other ways, tariff on Mexico will work because the balance of power is in his favour. China is substantially different, he needs to start backing up soon on that one!

If it gets to 87 I’ll be doing back-flips down the street! It’s been a rough old day just hoping for a bounce tomorrow and not more of the same.

Trump is up for re-election in 2020 so has to resolve with China in some form, even if it’s just a carefully staged climb down to save face - the Chinese are under no such pressure! Trumps big sell is the economy so I remain confident that tensions will ease in the coming months.
