The war in Yemen has been going on for years and seems very one sided, have the houthis found a low cost way to strike back? If it has affected half the output as reported that’s substantial in itself but with any more strikes that’d really be a game changer.

Seems to be becoming a regular occurrence but not much impact - all forgotten about come Monday morning.

PMO SP seems very stable given decline in Brent. Has the bottom been reached with positives like the sale of zama shoring it up? With a GE on the way it will be turbulent for many stocks in the short term.

There does seem to be resilience in the SP now. The prospect of a zama sale has to be making shorters wary, maybe people know something we won’t for a few days??

If the plan is to get a trade deal with China in preparation for re-election in 2020 then now is too soon, too much time in between for things ro unravel. Best time imo is after campaigning begins, polls taken, and then timing the trade deal announcement for maximum impact. China know this so trump may have to take a pragmatic line with the deal he gets.

The previous refinancing had a high interest rate as the debt was over 2 times MC iirc, and many institutions would not offer a better deal because of this.

So with EOY debt projected to fall below $2B and a Zama sale of approx $400m we’d need a MC of $800m to get the debt ratio below 2? Currently around $750m so even a zama sale at the top end would achieve that or after paying down a bit more debt, say into 2020H1/2. Outside factors are a risk as always but pmo is hedging quite aggressively and their break even is around $35 a barrel(?) now. As investments go it looks pretty good over 1-2 years.

Agreed, but a more rounded politician would think more short term? China has a lot of options that America doesn’t so it’s going to be a tough job.

Trump doesn’t want a recession above all else so at least that is on our side.
