RE: Referendums17 Nov 2025 04:03
Just to make my point clearer ill replicate the relevant sections of the interview.
"BNamericas:Β If the "yes" vote wins on the Constituent Assembly, Ecuador will be in an electoral process for a year. How would that affect the mining sector?
Ycaza:Β In the short term, the constitutional process will cool investments. I don't think the mining registry will be reopened or oil tenders will be held until the new rules of the game are known.
BNamericas:Β How do you see the outlook for advanced-stage mining projects?
Ycaza:Β The biggest challenges will be for those who have to negotiate exploitation contracts. 2026 will be a year of slow progress, both due to the electoral climate and possible institutional changes.
If the Constituent Assembly takes place, the laws and institutions will have to be adjusted to the new framework. With the 2008 Constitution, the process took two or three years."
I dont fancy waiting 2 to 3 years cheers. Ive waited long enough. Im 44 and want out well before 50.
