Im sorry to see you go Cowichan . Along with Mr T,Siko, Rebess ,Dasut and Sotolo, you are a name i easily recognised.
Im hoping that you miss out good style here! ( but that is me being selfish) and that you are quids in wherever you decide to invest instead.
Please continue to contribute and all the best for the future.
I'd like to see a regualr stream of director buys. I dont think there have been any for 18 months or longer. I think the last one was when we were in the 130's and was a buy of 20 or 30,000? A steady stream of buys, along with regular updates (especially good news!) would help with credability and trust.
Obviously it comes down to OZ's out of the ground at what cost, but directors putting their hands into their own pockets would send positive signals.
I suppose Mr T that by clearing the pile , that they are giving themselves room to work, and once it is clear it should just be a matter of keeping on top of it, like should have been done in the past.
I always get a funny feeling when the share is tipped in the papers as we sometimes get a fall soon after.
I remember about 5 1/2 years ago we were tipped around the high 170' then shortly fell to the 120's I think.
Im not getting any younger. We need things to carry on improving and hopefully quckly.
You will remember Mr T? Didnt they predict 600K ounces very shortly before one of the major problems?
I agree with what you are saying about the waste there Mr T. If they had been clearing it as they were going along, it would not have become a problem-----AND it probably would have been cheaper than doing it in one massive effort.
We would probably not have gotten the same OZ's of gold out of the ground, or the decent dividends, but things would have been going along a lot smoother and the share price would be higher than it is now. SO--swings and roundabouts but generally we have lost more by the drop in the (artificially high) share price (or even a true one) than we gained in dividends.
The high share price and dividends suited the people who got out in time and had the knowledge to do so.
Lets hope that things start to get better for us soon. I think a bit of cheer would do us all good.
Yes Mr T-----------we now know what has gone on in the past but we cannot do anything about it. They could have acted earlier and stopped the problem, or at least slowed it down to a managable level, without having too much impact. Obvioulsy, the longer they left it , the worse the problem became. I would have thought that the more they shift from the pile, that it would become quicker, easier and cheaper to remove?
That Martin Horgan seems to be doing the job properly now, suggests he is in it for the long haul.
We could do with some good luck now---------Gold price going up, a good find, basel 3 taking effect or a combination of those things.
How do you see the Basel 3 thing going? Will it have an impact or be ignored.
I did make some Plum and blackcurrant jam with fruit out of the garden. Bloody lovely stuff :-)
All the best for the New Year Mr T. Please try to not let political and other things get you too wound up.
So what will happen? Anything or will it just pass by and be ignored?
Are you still in Hoc and Ths?
We were not looking very good here 3 months ago, but have had a decent run since then and anyone who reinvested the divi has done ok out of that.
Like Dasut, I hope we get on a run to £2 and beyond, but will struggle with that without gold going up and reducing costs as well.
A quick look back through the historical charts shows 130ish is a "normal" price for us and runs over that usually drop back.
Usually if a newspaper recommends us, we start to drop. I remember being tipped when the shares were 179 over 5 years ago.
Anyhow--fingers crossed for some good news, director buys, gold going up and a large rise in the share price.
Im not getting any younger!
I only started to have a look at this board a year or so ago and am not invested. Somebody posted up that Centamin was a dog of a share and they were investing somewhere better . They posted they got into BOO at £1.05. If they did, then they are down 66% on the investment. Centamin are now roughly back where they were at that time, after a rough year, but there have been 2 dividends in that time.
If I get some money spare, I may take a very small punt on BOO as the recovery, if it comes could be very good. BUT who knows?
We want to see more ounces mined at a lower cost. The Rns does seem good news and maybe a few director buys (it's been a while since we had any of those and I think we were in the 130's then?). BUT, along with the solar, it looks like things are getting better.
Any idea why? I looked away and 5 minutes later it was up $22
I hope it goes up a lot more.
That was a pretty positive post from Sotolo!
With all the cr-p that we have had the last few years, a nice , boring "Steady as she goes" is welcome. Also, in the long run I think it will give Centamin and Martin Horgan a bit of credibility.
We now know what went on in the past and how we got into the mess that we did and it looks like Martin Horgan has been doing the spade work to put things right.
Did I miss it?? Was there any update on how they are doing clearing the "heap" ?
Hopefully the light bodied trucks and the solar will pay for themselves many times over. Now we could do with the price of gold moving in an upwards direction. Remember when there was talk or $3000, £5000 etc an ounce?
Im sure Mr T is reading and watching------and probably getting really wound up by the recent events regarding the Tories.
Anyhow Mr T, calm down, relax, enjoy yourself a bit and lets hope that in the not too distant future you will be wearing those custom made golden flip flops.
Fingers crossed for a good update. I think we are long overdue a good one.
Yes it seems like good news. You wouldnt think Martin Horgan is the sort of man to drip information like this if there were bad news coming.
Hopefully a few more items of good news will be coming in Q3 and beyond.
Glut of courgettes Mr T. Done a few jars of gherkins as well. Advice to start stripping leaves off the tomatoes so they will ripen. Trying for more blackcurrant cuttings (HAVE you seen the price of jam?!!!!!!). Some sunflowers have popped their heads out and the bees are starting to enjoy them. Some plums frozen for jam making on the fire later in the year.
I've made a couple of batches of Plum wine , mainly for friends, and the apple wine season is almost upon us.
I am nowhere near self sufficient but getting a little better each year.
Life would be much easier for me if Centamin get cracking and start paying fat dividends.
I think this winter might be hard ------and little bits can help.
Have a good evening Mr T
Siko. Please dont leave the board. Your input has been appreciated, even if like most of us, you were mis led by the last lot.
Well done on working for the NHS.
I think a lot of people appreciate the front line NHS, but dont like the trusts running it. An over simplified example is cutting staff to save money then paying themselves more for having done it.
I agree with a lot of Mr T's politics but not him airing them on here. I have said a few times that he should wind his neck in a bit. I hope that Mr T does just that but continues to post on here.
You can argue that more of less anything is related to the price of gold and thus Centamin.
The war in the Ukraine, Brexit and raising fuel prices I wont argue with except to say---not on here.
Good luck in your ventures Siko.
Its about time we got a few substantial director buys isnt it? Try and keep the recent , post update, upward momentum going.
It might cheer us up a bit to see a few decent sized buys. :-)
Sotolo --did you not think to start getting the house built years ago? With your holding the Divi should have helped getting it started.
Someone has bought the woods at the back of me, which are mainly hill and for which he would not be able to get planning permission. But as all he wants it a bit of quite at the weekends, he is building a sort of cabin. Its not bad so far. He put in brick and concrete plinths and is building on top of those. He got some double glazing units off the bay and is building (in new money) an 8metre by 4 metres cabin. its cost him about £3,000.
Anyhow--If I were in your position, and had your sort of money I would be building a pretty decent cabin/chalet to live in in the mean time and once your mansion is built (Ive got my fingers crossed for the £3 a share in the not too distant future), you can keep it as a chalet/ summer house. Im guessing as it would be mainly wood it would be classed as a tempory structure and easier to get planning permisson for. Or you could get a couple of old static caravans ? :-) His and hers?
I hope you get to build your mansion before you get too old------------Mr T gets his gold flip flops---and I can afford gold toe capped boots for the garden.
No---I mean Wild Tiger----- or quite Irate Tiger as I've take to calling him. You know ,the one who always selsl having bought in a bit lower last week.
I dont watch the Andrew Maguire things, but he does seem to have been banging on about things changing for a long time.
Kinesis, Basel 3 etc? Not wanting to upset Mr T or anything about AM.
However there is something wrong in a system thats lets many times more "paper gold" be issued than actually gets dug out of the ground.
Regarding people predicting------------maybe it is my perception but there seem to be more wrong calls than right. Im hoping that your call of £3 a share comes true for us soon Sotolo!!!!! I could do with some gold toe capped boots for the garden.
The day traders seem to make good calls but then lose out in a biggish rise. Making Hay used to be like that. I think we are about 1.5 times higher than when he got out many years ago and that is not taking the divis into account.
Quite irate Tiger claims to have been calling it right until recently and will no doubt claim he has made more elsewhere than he has lost in the recent rise here.
I was looking at one of the dividend sites recently and they were proclaiming that they are right 44%of the time. isnt that worng 56% of the time then? Monkey Darts anyone?
