I tend to agree more with the door not slammed shut sentiment as opposed to the just to keep shareholders hanging on view. There’s surely a lot of brinkmanship in play here from the Slovenian govt. Assuming that some kind of an offer was made by them, perhaps they’re working on the assumption that a lack of will and/or resources on the part of Ascent for a longer fight will force an agreement. I’d be interested to know if an offer was indeed made.

Metal tiger - I’m in the same boat as you on here. Bought in at just over 4p in anticipation of contracts that haven’t yet come. I’m happy sitting and waiting though and certainly won’t be selling on the basis one or more other posters opinions of the company. These kind of companies on AIM are a gamble. Research makes it a qualified gamble! But if you want to make decent gains you have to stick with it. I do question any negative posts on any of these boards and always ask myself what’s in it for the poster.

Yo -homes - I’ve not been investing long and I’ve come to that same conclusion about not needing to constantly keep checking the price of a share like this. So far I’ve only managed half a day though :-) !!! I’ve bought into this as a longer term investment though as it’s a really solid bet.

What's all of the nonsense about bad news - there is no news. A few numpties get up a petition on gov.uk and the usual sheep sign up to it and if enough do then Parliament have to debate it. that is all it was. Nothing was ever riding on it. A waste of time as has already been said and no impact on CTEA. The big decisions will be made irrespective of this. Fingers crossed that CTEA will be in on the contracts. And if you doubt that there will be some form of digital passporting then just think back to how much you ever doubted that a lockdown could be possible.

What are you expecting the value of the settlement to be? And likely share price prior to announcement?

If ever there was a share to demonstrate why you should ignore the naysayers and doom merchants who post on LSE then this has to be the one! Various posters have been nowhere to be seen for the past two days. No doubt they'll be back if/when there is profit-taking and the price temporarily levels out or pares back. But they are being shown up for what they truly are - self-serving and disingenuous. Trust your own research and judgement and the research of others on here that is usually supported by verifiable evidence.

Bakky - then why worry about posters being what you see as over-optimistic about prospects.

Bakky - as a mere novice in this game and a newcomer to LSE, could you explain why you post on this share if you don't own it and aren't intending to buy into it? Why bother posting at all and just avoid the tit for tat exchanges. Let those of us who have bought in indulge in our dreams and follow our own advice as you're free to do too.

Ping - thank you for acknowledging my question and for the time you've taken to reply. I guess I'm at the stage now where I assume you were at 5 years ago in terms of me being a bit of a novice investor. I'll admit my attraction was the possibility (dare I say likelihood) of a positive legal settlement. Your point about the reliance on winning a legal battle rather than selling gas (the raison d'etre) was something that wasn't lost on me at the time of my investment. My hope is a decent settlement figure and effective use of the proceeds either in Slovenia or elsewhere. The Cuba venture, as you point out, does make you wonder where the true expertise lies but fingers crossed on that too. Although how international politics will factor into that one is something that I've not really fathomed.

Ping - what attracted you to AST at the time of your investment? I guess many recent investors are anticipating the settlement from Slovenia - which will provide something tangible? If indeed it is settled in the short-term.

Zero - the instructions for performing the test are actually identical in both instruction manuals i.e 2.5cm and 10 circles. The updated version is mainly different in the COVID guidance section. And notably the revised manual includes a "Test Performance" section that states the test is more likely to give a positive result if someone has high levels of virus and the need to immediately self isolate if positive (that section is missing from the earlier version).

The kits I've got are manufactured by Xiamen Bio - same version update as quoted below.

Jaceorge - I'm new to investing and to LSE so pardon me for being a bit green - but your post has me confused. If you have shares here why would you seek to rubbish it - surely counterproductive to your own interests? If you had shares and have sold them already or have never owned any why would you bother giving your perceived wisdom to anyone on here? I know there's the public spirited angle but really?! So that only leaves the possibility that you're looking for a cheaper buy in??! Do comments on these boards really have that much influence on SP?? Seriously???!!!

Zero - I was given what appear to be the same tests as you a couple of weeks ago. When they were issued to me I was told to ignore the instructions that were in the box and was given a separate glossy instruction leaflet. I was told the old instructions had been revised hence the new leaflet. So I assume that the test itself is the original one but with revised instructions as to use.

The same thing happened to me with AAA about a month ago Bob. I had to set up an account elsewhere so that I could buy in. I've no idea why you can't buy this share via Iweb.

Thank you for taking time to replying Gary and for your balanced take on things. As I said, I’m happy to sit on this and see where it goes - and accept the potential consequences! It’s risk at the end of the day. I’m invested in a few companies now - some were tips whereas this one was my own pick. The LSE boards are quite fascinating - the posts seem to go from one extreme to the other often in a regular 24 cycle :-) !!!

I must admit that I bought into the share on the back of the COVID angle. I’m relatively new to investing and to LSE. I guess that these boards are a reflection on life in general - by that I mean people trying to influence you for their own personal gain in many cases. I’ve done my own research on the covid angle for this and other shares. I decided to punt a few thousand in here at 4.1p which wasn’t the best price and many of you will no doubt gasp at! Made worse by a significant price drop the day after I bought in too!! I’m happy to wait and see where it goes though. And afterall, it’s a learning game and no point pulling out too early just because of that. I’d be interested to know what contributors on here think a realistic (as opposed to aspirational) SP will be as the year progresses?
