Yup love the look of them @Mercman77 - I nearly bought one last year until I realised how small the boots are, which make it useless for me.

They're different customer bases, IMO.
There is a bit of crossover between Lambo and Ferrari. But fanatical almost religious following of Aston and McLaren, very few deviate from the path.
Then most will have a porsche, Audi RS, Range Rover sport for their daily drive.

This is where Lambo won with the Urus and where Aston will win with the DBX - it almost doesn't matter what it looks or drives like (although of course that helps) every Aston brand fanatic will want one for a daily.

Most shares do this though.... or at least all mine do, regularly 7%+ up early doors, then flat in the afternoon. Actually thinking about it... all my FTSE do. Anything US seems less volatile.

I'm with ya... although I believe little chance AML would actually go pop. 30p was an opportunity IMHO not a risk. The players involved are too big and too heavily invested for that. AML would always be rescued/sold/additional funding ploughed in, rather than actually going bankrupt..... I believe.

The brand name alone is worth more than 30p a share to someone like Mercedes.

Interesting @RoxburyHouse I'd not noticed this.... I just spent 10 minutes checking a couple of stocks where i can remember when there were announcements, and yup there is a pattern of SP dropping 2-3% just before the announcement.

Is this MM's manipulation though, or nervous bods selling just before in case it's bad news?

Well it can't have gone up as the factories have been shut ;o) They've been heavily discounting... I was offered a Vantage with £2k down, £1200 a month for 2 years then just hand the car back. That's cheaper than my Audi!

A weird side benefit of Covid and the furlough scheme is that it's a LOT cheaper to keep Gaydon shut for a while to reduce stocks further!

I hate any predicting of numbers it's pointless ;o) But multiples upwards by year end....

EDIT - yes I appreciate that £1.90-£4.95 climb was before rights dilution.

Do remember how fast things can change.... this is a SP that moved from £1.90 to £4.95 in one month March to April THIS YEAR... the only main negatives since have been down to Covid. The risk vs reward here are monumental.

What? Why would you delay buying at 50p until AML have proved themselves, them have to buy at £1+, you've just lost the quickest 100% profit that might be possible!? Buy in now at cheapest possible.... if you're nervous set a sell order just below where you are adjust up as the SP rises?

He's already done that though @PC62.... he's already in the quickest team he could reach, it's all down to Lance now.

@Bluefiesta because there ain't no bean counter like a German bean counter ;o) I don't think they would gain board approval for buying a dying duck. And also Stroll needs to make his profit - I'm not sure he's get the profit he's after selling down here. Just MHO.

The guy may pretend to be an investor but he's made the classic mistake at just looking at what he sees on the surface, without trying to fully understand the reason behind it. Both good and bad. IMO.

I would be shocked if Daimler didn't buy AML in the near future, the stars are too well aligned. IMO this is Stroll's entire game plan - he's not in this for the long term, he doesn't do that. He turn's companies around then sells his shares at huge profit.

Point being he needs to turn AML round first - to be able to sell at the profit he (and his consortium... it's not just him) needs. Rather than a bargain, Daimler may have to cope with buying a resurgent AML and pay good money for what the famous brand is worth. Their bean counters wouldn't approve buying a dying duck anyway I think even if it were cheap. I'm in for the ride!

Why are you so sure of your negativity @Mercman77?

Simple fact is that this SP is currently several multiples below where it deserves to be. And many multiples of that below where it could be in a year or two given the proven winners who are now driving it, and the hype that we all know is already lined up in the pipeline. Many traders have already made near 100% in just over a week!

As long as nothing nuts happens again with Covid, it'll rise fast.

My personal belief (not what I want to happen.... but logically) is that Stroll and co will turn this around over the next 2-3 years, get SP around 250p, and then sell AML to Mercedes to serve as their performance arm. I fully intend to be here when that happens.

That's my point... I do the work I want to now, not because I have to.

Yes Lambo still do - but not for the model that they have maxed out the demand for - is my point.

You pay a premium for Lambo custom - but their logic is that the extra profit from doing that is lower than getting a higher number of units out the door when building them all standard(ish), as it's much faster.
