Because it is the bank's money @stake & all they are concerned about is that they get repaid. A RI or similar would protect them. The banks will not see the rosy possibilities or green shoots that might not happen & the banks do not care about shareholders either. A bit like if you fall behind on your mortgage & say but i got a new job coming in 6 months so i'll pay you then. No, thanks we'll repossess the house & sell it to get our money back!

i suspect behind the scenes a RI will be the plan & they are negotiating underwriting . Should hear something here in a few days i would suspect as it could well be part of the banking covenant discussions!

Fundamentals, The SP really doesn't matter in a RI context. Rolls Royce shares were 300+ last Summer & they ended up with a RI offering shares @32p. All that matters is they raise enough equity. As a very crude example CARD could do a 2 for 1 RI today offering say 2 shares @15p for every 1 held. This would raise @£100m in new equity & guarantee survival & allow further investment. The perceived downside is existing investors would be hugely diluted by the glut of extra shares. That is incorrect though as if you take the rights you're compensated by the discounted shares & you have a stronger & more secure investment. A RI is the way for this company as it looks to me like this COVID stuff will go on a lot longer than thought!

Tom, i been in on loads of RIs, & currently one going on with TP ICAP. A RI here would be IMO the best route for this company & i would invest here quite significantly if they announced one which raised enough capital to secure the business for another 12 months. The new CEO starts here in March i believe & i think with a new pair of eyes at the helm, this company could do very well in the future. My main concern is the liquidity stuff & until they sort that out this share will drift into no mans land. ATB

what does the current SP have to do with a Rights issue? They need cash to survive. SP is irrelevant if the company goes bust!

same with IAG, i think is way overpriced but might buy as some quick speculative cash there!

Poker, on paper RR is horrendous. I think it does well purely on the name alone as it'll be a few years before it'll make cash again. For me it's one that i'd swing trade thus would only consider buying at these levels!

i am one of those waiting in the wings for a low entry point. Far too dear at the moment. Once the RI issue gets announced the SP will fall to the 20-25p range. I will buy at that point, get the shares cheaply plus the discounted rights shares & the company will be newly capitalised. Best way to invest in this one i think!

when they see $3bn cash on the table next Tuesday opposed to $100m 3 months back i think the markets will be persuaded easily. Sentiment can change so quick when hard cash involved!

$55 OP consistently for the last quarter. $15-$20 profit PB for BP. BP extracts @2m BPD=$40m pd profit. So should be $3b + profit from oil alone!
