With the island being skint, lack of momentum on sunrise and a nice 25% free carry on chudditch, I see no reason for anything but a swift approval by the Gov. An lng facility onshore would cost $ 10billion+ , Highly complex and years to build. Most of that project would also be outsourced so no real benefit for the local economy short term and would they ever actually make the money back ?

The 25% on the table for Timor Gap is a fantastic remuneration and not something that’s in their interest to turn down. It would be on a free carry also. Equally would be very easy to get the local press to write an article that the island are turning down say $500million should that be the case. That would put pressure on a weak government. $500mill in the bank is easy money and in the coffers much quicker than building an lng plant on the island.

You say the HFB. But what on your high estimate figs is the cash equivalent of 1700mbo ?

The islands interest comes via Timor Gap and their 25% stake. Timor Gap is the state owned oil company. Timor leste get their revenue via this stake.

Santos have the neighbouring Bayu Undan gas field which lies in Timor waters. Where do they pipe and process the gas ? Australia Darwin. The Barossa field also in Timor waters is being drilled by Jera / Santos. Any gas find also planned to be processed in Australia Darwin. Boil have no restrictions what they do with any discovery either.
