Has Buy @ 36p, Target 58p, Stop Loss 30p. Personally, I also think the fundamentals are looking good too, with more fruit processing. about the Epithermal Kisi results : Fraser, Just some questions from a non-mining expert : The epithermal Kisi differs quite significantly from the porphyry prospect at Arie. Although the grades just released don't sound much, is the gold much more accessible with epithermal? You mention previous grades hit by Highlands and TPJ, presumably these are the sort of grades Newcrest is really hoping to find? I did increase my holding just before you released results - it's amazing how many shares you get for not much money at these deflated prices! Any thoughts welcome. The historical grades were quite impressive and of the order Newcrest would love to see. Yes we are too cheap but with positive results I hope our loyal shareholders will be compensated. We continue to drill and hope to see Newmont recommence drilling at Morobe as soon as we are ready, having undertaken all of the diligence work we wanted to complete. No mention of Manus Island at all in Newcrest's presentation. Think it's too small, too exploratory to deserve a mention for them. Anyway, can't believe Fraser's going to lead us all completely down the garden path on a wild goose chase. sp seems to be holding or better.

Thanks for that discussion - you seem very knowledgeable on mining matters. Just been on the Newcrest website and can't find a mention of tomorrow's presentation, but will try to take a look tomorrow. Remind me if I forget. While on the site, I spotted the Morobi Wafi-golpu update on Aug 29. We're next door to this I believe with Newmont and that came up with good grades : 'The Wafi-Golpu project which is expected to double its reported resources to 40 million ounces of gold and 15 million tonnes of copper'. Always find Newmont/Newcrest confusing but now I know why : Newcrest dates back to 1966, when Newmont Mining Limited established an Australian subsidiary, Newmont Holdings Limited, which subsequently changed its name to Newmont Australia Limited. In 1990, Newmont Australia Limited acquired Australmin Holdings Ltd, subsequently merged with BHP Gold Limited and changed its name to Newcrest Mining Limited. So, Newcrest was part of Newmont - what do you know! Besides my buy, significant to me, we've had one 250,000 significant buy today and NO sells. I put 'hold' which is a lower recommendation than 'Weak Buy' which strangely seems to be a stronger thing than 'Buy' on LSE's dropdown. Explain?

The drilling results from Newcrest on the first 4 drills at Kisi(Manus) are discussed. There is a lot of info, however the grades struck do not inspire. My 'Weak Buy' is going back to 'Hold'. Anyway, they are talking to us, we can expect more results within a couple of weeks, and Newcrest to make some decisions in January.

Just spoke to the boss and he explained the logic surrounding vietnam. He states that when he joined (Jan 2011) he went to vietnam and quickly came to realise after all the millions of dollars TPJ had pumped in there, it seemed unlikely to promise shareholder benefit. Bill Howell who has worked out in Vietnam for about 15 years still believes in it and is hoping to gather finance to progress the prospect - though quite possibly this will be fruitless. TPJ tried getting several majors involved in the project this year and only Antofogasta could be persuaded to visit Vietnam but even they declined to farm-in. The 10% free carry for TPJ with Bill was about as good as we were going to get anyway whoever came in. Fraser wishes Bill luck but believes the project with the current financial climate worldwide is going nowhere. Elsewhere, he has results from 4 drills in the first prospect at Manus Island (Kisi)with Newcrest and could release these as early as tomorrow but may wait until the remaining two drills are available in about two weeks. His board meeting today will decide. Also he has been informed that drilling has completed and results from the second prospect at Manus(Arie) will be available around Xmas. Anyway, very informative and helpful chat.

Have sent him this email : Fraser,, The RNS clearly states what has occurred, but gives no rationale behind the sale except 'pursuant to its broader strategy to withdraw from its non-core Vietnam assets'. Could you please explain this further. As far as I can see, we only have this one Vietnam asset. When an asset is sold to the Company's Exploration Director, Bill Howell, for £1, the market needs a full explanation. Seems indeed to be coming back towards 36p. Surely wise to get out around 35p and wait for yo-yo to go down. One day it will get through the 36p barrier but I think it's going to take seriously good news, maybe the new fruit processing plant 'a third 40,000 tonnes capacity plant is expected to become operational in first quarter of 2013 with trial production in December 2012.' mentioned in the results. 36p used to be our support, but support has now become resistance. The heady heights of March around 45p and more seem a long time ago. GL All - hold for now.
