I think Sam watched Tony Durrant et al make far too many promises, statements, interviews, etc., which never came to fruition to make any more until there's something worth saying.

In any case, if it's anything to do with FEED / FID, it's probably more for Navitas to report what's going on, not for Sam, so if you've got a gripe, try knocking on Gideon's door and he'll probably tell you to Eff Off.

Don't be silly Mirasol, '20 years' was more than just 'a figure of speech' and is virtually double the time RKH has had to get SL into production.
If you're honest, RKH has had rather more headwinds to contend with than might have been expected, and they're still very much alive and kicking, unlike very many others.

PoP, I think part of the problem is / was that the boffins assured the politicians that commercial nuclear fusion was about 30 years away, so a bit more fossil fuel burning would be OK and we don't want the problem of disposing of that nasty fission waste.
Well, that initial '30 years away' promise was in the late 1940s / 1950s and it's still about 30 years away now.

Not saying it's the full / only explanation, but it certainly played a part in getting us to where we are now, which is 8 billion of us on a too rapidly heating planet with no real alternatives to help quickly enough.

Presumably that's why Stephen Hawking (and others) were so keen to find another, similar planet to inhabit.

That listed a long list of things RKH would have to achieve to survive, let alone flourish.

I suggest you have another look at that presentation, to see just how far things have progressed in those 9 months, before making any more silly and rather boring comments. Maybe even do a bit of analysis as Rogue Trader has done?

As LTT has said, why did someone as respected as Ian Ramsay leave a very decent job to join a gang of hopeless bodgers (as you appear to regard them) to follow a fruitless dream, when he was already so well placed?
You remember PMO and Tony Durrant, frequently making promises / announcements, which never came to anything? People moaned then, saying that they'd be better off getting on with the job, rather than making stupid announcements that always ended in disappointment.
Navitas are getting on with the job and probably have nothing worthwhile to say at the moment, but still you moan about that. I would like Navitas to get on with the job, without any distractions, until there's something worth saying and which won't end in more disappointment. They haven't yet given any indication that SL's a lost cause, they're giving up and Ian Ramsay is looking for a new job.

Considering that many (most?) were becoming increasingly resigned to there being no award at all, or some piffling amount at best, I really don't see what anyone has to moan about now, unless they're professional moaners, or have an anti-RKH axe to grind.

What about such a 'foreign corporation', which enters into a commercial agreement with a country / government to explore and produce oil / gas. When it finds oil / gas, that country / government blocks further exploitation, and / or seizes the asset(s) without any compensation, when the 'foreign corporation' has paid handsomely for licences and investment in the country's infrastructure to extract the oil / gas?

While there may be examples of ECT contributing to throttling the transition from oil/gas to renewables, what other protection is there for such 'foreign corporations' from unscrupulous countries / governments? That's what I thought the ECT was primarily about.
In the case of Italy, it would have been completely useless to have pursued the Italian State through their Courts.

It shouldn't be forgotten that after 23/12/22, interest starts accruing again.

There are differences of opinion about the exact monthly sum, but as far as RKH is concerned, it's a lot, especially at a time when they don't have any unusual expenditure, or big debts to pay.

While I'm sure Sam would rather have the money ASAP, the continuing added interest is probably a very welcome extra.
Also, not having 'the cash in the bank', but instead, a nice steady extra income to add to the award, means that there isn't a big fat cash pot to attract the likes of greedy Crispin Odey, for which Sam and the rest of us can be very grateful.
