Pipped at the post T (sorry bit early for puns). Last nights Webinar on Stockopedia. Threw up all sorts of dodgy customers. First up believe it or not.... Mcro. They seemed to think was way to risky, and probably due a rights issue . Would be one hell of a an RI to pay off 4 billion debt. I guess if interest rates went up it could get difficult for everyone. Then there was THS, MNZS, FIN, AHT (looks really good , don't know how we missed that. Put forward by a woman of course. but best graph I've ever seen on a stock. Then couple of dodgy pharmas, a miner and small intellectual property investor, and they talk about risk aversion!

Morning with little sun. Third on parade if this finds its way on to the page quicker than my last post. I finally got a call through to iWeb, they simply said they did not guarantee internet trading, which I understand and I should use the non existent phone and chat service to trade. Well they tested my tolerance of stupidity way beyond its limit. Started the process of moving Brokers from IWEB to Jarvis securities. They say it takes 15 working days, which is basically 3 weeks. Whatever happened to technology? Going to be an up day apparently. Good luck all

IWEB FU again. Apparently People can't get funds trades in or out of accounts. They have asked people not to press the button more than once as it may result in multiple repeat actions!
I just wanted to know why I can't sell any of my investment trusts or WHR reits, not that I want to they are all doing quite well, but it would be nice to know that I can trade them when I want to rather than when their out of date system allows me to. No online chat help and no phone call service. I can see a whole lot of problems tomorrow when people find their accounts overdrawn. Should be interesting.

C Cybersecurity is a huge growth sector obviously. Its also quite complicated to split up all the specialist fields with in it. The technical advancement is also rapid and difficult to know who has the edge. One of the more interesting ones is the possible IPO of the Cambridge company Darktrace. This is a large one but what is interesting to me is the trail of one Mike Lynch, founder of Autonomy which was bought by Hp, subsequently part bought by MCRO. There is a US extradition order on Lynch for exaggerating Autonomy's value to the tune of $1.3 billion. Lynch was a also a big investor in the start up capital for Darktrace. So far the UK government are saying if they have a problem with Lynch they have to prosecute him in the UK, which seems fair enough. Frankly they are all tarred with the same brush, but of course the yanks don't like coming off second best. Have they not heard of phrases like Buyer beware and due diligence? I mean they pay millions to lawyers and advisors. I would have thought compensation if warranted should be paid by the professional services mob. I did have a few shares in Autonomy I must admit lol.
Avst has not been without issues in the past which I may have explained previously. I first invested just after they IPO'd and have been in and out a few times. I will be holding out for £6+ this time. May take a while. I think once you've targeted the bottom of a drop you have to give it a bit of time 6 months to a year. Hopefully it can be quicker of course . GL

You've done better than me CSDI. I bought too soon in the drop at 4.65. They did hit 4.20 a couple of weeks back which was rather odd. Fingers crossed

Perishing cold but beautiful sunny good morning. Don't think much of the forecast. Somebody posted a very amusing video of a family enjoying their pre booked garden pub lunch in shorts and T-shirts with rain lashing down diluting their beer and wine . According to forecasts it could be snow as well this weekend!
Surprised to see the FTSE going it alone charging away from the rather indifferent Dow and Nikkei.
Saga pounding upwards again. Still not convinced and am happy to concentrate on the prospects of MCRO in particular but many others. My PF had looked a bit in the doldrums but most seem to have been jolted into life by the arrival of spring even if it is in minus temperatures.
Having fought manfully to resist the temptation of investing the whole ISA 20k, the whole lot seems to have found its way into something or other by 4 o clock. Have to twiddle my thumbs today. Remembering the phrase 'always leave room to trade' I still have some fire power, but will try and curb any further purchases, at least till my Stockopedia Private investor webinar tonight. Thats bound to throw up more tempting goodies!

I must say was a bit confused as to why they say the market for mussels is too small in the UK M. Its seems to be a similar story with Scottish sea food predominantly exported to Europe, while we import tasteless prawns from Thailand. Its all bonkers.
The couple farming mussels 7 miles off Devon came down from Scotland and there is another farm on the Welsh coast. They grow on ropes attached to the seabed . About 200 miles of rope. Wouldn't want to get your propeller snagged in that. They could get round it by the 'new' EU law by filtration in clean water, which is what I thought happened anyway. The say the mussels get stressed out because what used to take 24 hours to market now takes about three times as long.

The real irony is British mussels main market was ........ Mussels for Brussels! just topped up in Mcro. Dow moving back up after weak open. Nikkei closed down 1.3% not quite able to hold 30000.Interesting that they have the worst record on vaccine in the developed world, but also the lowest infection/transmission rate.

V.N and probably everyone. My entire family voted remain in the EU, even though we had a lot of issues with it. It should have and could have worked, but too much corruption and selfishness prevailed. I'd give a couple of years before it breaks up and they scrap the euro. Spain, Italy and of course Greece are all basket cases. Germans wont stand for being the main contributor much longer. At some stage they will have to to take a hit and cut free. Its just not sustainable in the longer term. The smart ones will want to do deals with us before they loose everything.
I remember a senior civil servant posing the question 'do we really need farms I the UK?' about 10 years ago, thinking we could be totally reliant on food imports. There will be a revelution in farming and food production fairly soon within 10 years. The first fish cell produced meat grown in a vat will com to market by year end which is really exciting and will eventually wipe out Dutch trawlers and others.
I too have a friend who makes cheese from his own dairy herd, gradually building it up to stop wholesale milk sales to super markets altogether.
The story of two mussel farms on the Food program last week was absolutely heart breaking. Years of work, research local employment, environmentally sustainability all in the balance, because the Eu does what it does best, screw people over, for the sake of a vendetta. I really think we need to get selective on banning random imports from the EU. Its a stupid game but if thats how they want to play, we shouldn't be a doormat.

T. Glad somebody had good weather. Probably being a bit wimpy, but the Artic wind hits you from all directions on this coast! Very interested in Darktrace IPO. They are obviously a bit concerned as the date keeps slipping back. Again wont be disappointed if I have to wait till the shares actually trade on the market. Good morning Brigade. Another day another IPO. Darktrace, cybersecurity. Quite interesting 'no dual shares like pervious 2 IPO,s. Founder was CEO with Autonomy, the company involved in the 'cooking the books' court case with HP a couple of years back. Apparently many Wall Street bankers have turned their back on the because of that. That makes the float cheaper. Big company, $1 billion but only partial float. maybe worth doing a bit more digging. Can we have some slightly warmer weather now please?

Afternoon for freezing Deal. Snow in Canterbury this morning. Main bright spot for me is Nikkei back into 30.000s. Air France granted bail out by Eu (otherwise called 'an injection of cash by the French government). Interestingly at the same time Aid Canada pull out of takeover in Europe due to 'EU regulatory hurdles'. No surprise there and they are hell bent on ruining our very successful mussel industry refusing previously agreed post Brexit arrangement. Scum! Time to hit back I think. They seem to be jostling for a trade war. Don't think it will take much to collapse the French government, probably do it on their own anyway.

C. CEY is interesting me again. Quite a lot of director buying late March, although Aberdeen have reduced. Tend to go with directors. Gold and Silver/precious metals look to be a good part of the portfolio. I like Fres but they are concerned about the grip Covid has on Mexico. Poly tempting because of dividend but its in Russia which has a negative impact. I currently hold CAPD which are the picks and shovels end of gold mining and have a big contract with CEY, although unlike CEY they have a lot of contracts outside Egypt, but still focussed in Africa. Jim Mellon's Condor gold is one to watch in Nicaragua, about to turn producer and have purchased what looks like a decent second and unused mill in currently in transportation, Otherwise there are various ETFs which maybe a slower but safer way to invest. Looking at Shares ETF SLV for silver. Its all a bit of a minefield (sorry about the pun)

Sorry N. Thinking out loud! I would recommend you listen to a podcast with Jim Mellon though on markets in general. He is quite cautious for a big risk taker, but of course its about how you hedge or diversify to take those risks. Investing abroad has advantages and disadvantages, The valuations are generally better but you pay for it in more ways than one! I held several investment trusts invested in Dow last year, they did well but stupidly sold way too soon. I like what Mellon has to say about Japan and its ongoing recovery. Have already bought a couple of trust there. There is always something, and with Japan the only factor that concerns me is earthquakes. Its a smallish risk but an undeniable one.
T. The market does look ahead. In Dileveroos case about 10 years ahead! I quite like Parsley Box though. Glad I didn't do the IPO obviously. Think they will do really well just way too ahead on valuation but not quite as insane as Deliveroo. All hype of course and IPO being flavour of the month with primary bid, even though it doesn't work properly, a lot of over eager new investors being taken advantage of. Not S of course! They seem to think Parsley has been dragged down by the deflation of Delveroo, bit of a lame excuse. Apparently nobody got a look in on the BOTB or GAMMA placings recently. Id be pretty worried now if I had an allocation accepted to be honest. Its so rigged in favour of institutions, but they'll gladly let you have all the overpriced stuff. Being cynical again

Morning all. Dow down. Nikkei up. Ftse up a little possibly. France lock down as Macron blames British variant! We discover new variants because we have better scientists and invested more into doing something about it like vaccines and testing. It appears Macron is the new Donald Dump of Europe . Total imbecile. I think there is money to be made still, but going to have to be even more selective and disciplined. A lot of blind faith and speculation built into stocks right now particularly finance, travel, and hospitality/restaurants/bars. Commodities have been tipped, but again I think oil recovery is fragile and big metal companies have already badly stumbled heavily like Rio, Bhp Glen and even FRES. Gold has been weak for a while, that could change over the summer so will keep an eye on that. Am I being paranoid again?

Last day of trading for financial year tomorrow. Pretty flat today and wont mind if it is tomorrow as I hope to Top up ISA on Tuesday. Try not to got mad though as its annoying to run out of cash to trade in ISA with 12 months before refill without off loading something. I think that is the reason my account has performed slightly better outside the ISA over the last 12 months. Top boss man in WHR bought 200,000 today. Top boss man at AVST transferred 10 million shares to family trust.
Quite excited by TTG now S. Brewery in London are running Virolens tests against 2 PCRs by independent laboratory. They have events and weddings so are keen to be well equipped for a safe environment. This is exactly what I hoped it would be used for. Global potential is phenomenal and Keyoptions have signed another distributor today. No idea what Histate are playing at charging £50 a test. Hoping it will be cheap enough for amateur sports clubs to install for training and spectators too as well as the big clubs, gyms and restaurants and music events. Then their is their own electrical business which is picking up. Surprised its still hanging around at these levels.

Ah I see my post finally appeared. I thought I had address the answer wrongly to M was supposed to be a reply to N's comment. Basically there is a vast chasm between making profits and declaring them. As we have seen time again, lots of arguments about who made what in which company and who has the most favourable task regime. That was the hall mark of Osbornes tenure as chancellor, pally up to rich Russians and give then a nice tax shelter.

M They are. Amazon OCDO Facebook all trundle their merry way with staggering growth and just keep poughing money back. never declaring a profit but becoming the biggest traders in the world. Stockopedia have torn Deliveroo to shreds along with most others. There are two classes of shares which is not a good sign and insane valuation. Slightly surprised it wasnt pulled, obviously they were pleased to get it away at the bottom end. Looks like buy into a packet of trouble with staff employment irregularities. Hopefully we all swerved round that one. although you never know. It must have value at some point

Morning all. T I presume you didn't miss the relentless upward pull of MCRO. I remember spending an easter weekend in the Rhihnogs a good while ago. Its was a beautiful sunny good Friday when we arrived. While we waited for the rest of the party to arrive we raced down the valley and up the other side in shorts and T-shirt only to see an almighty snow blizzard travelling rather faster heading straight at us.Rather feels this Easter might be similar. One of the most beautiful places I've been to, must get back there one day.

Its not often you get a multi national company pass up 14 billion of profit to help out the world in a crisis, and the thanks they get from politicians to blamed for the indecisive squabbling between countries in the European Union blaming them for their own incompetence, arrogance and utter stupidity. Astrazenica had never done a vaccine before yet they through everything they had at it. Don't be surprised if they never get involved again. What a useless bunch of time wasters that should all be thrown in jail for being criminally stupid.
