Afternoon/evening. Sounds like a great idea T. We keep saying we want to look for somewhere warmer to winter. Not a lot of options without heading for the Southern Hemisphere. Its the after Christmas to spring here that drags and seems to have been prolonged periods of icy wind.
I see G mentions Anic. I bought the book Moo's Law, written by Jim Mellon which explains everything you need to know about Agronomics. After many years of trials and experiments it seems that we are on the verge of a new age of food production, cell flesh. Thats quite close to shell fish, which will be the first of these meat products to market by stem cell growth towards the end of this year. The statistics of the inefficiency of old style farming compared to these new ways of producing food are quite staggering, just in the use of water, land, deforestation and use of antibiotics. The one thing that held me off, was the expectation of another placing. Anic's actually share of investment in these different food companies is actually pretty small, but the pay off could be mega. I think it is a mistake in using normal metrics for valuations here (Anic is currently valued 6 times higher than the sum of its investments) . This is no normal investment. You have to think Amazon, Google, Microsoft. It will obviously build over the next few years, the only question is how fast. Most of the engineering has been done over the last 20 years, its now a question of scaling up and production. It will upset a lot of traditional producers to begin with and there will be resistance no doubt. I've no reason to doubt or argue any of Mr Mellon's study. This could cure pandemics, climate change, animal cruelty and starvation. A good investment for our own children and grand children. Hope it doesn't rise too much more before my ISA renewal.
