My monies on Trump having to back down. Too many US companies will be adversely impacted and too many billionairres in the US already hurting. Musk very vocal already and questioning the economics. Apple CEO having a nightmare with most of his products made in the Far East. Same for Nike with Vietnam one of its key producers +46% tariff. It's the most ill-conceived economic decision probably ever made in history.

But like we say THG still selling all it's products worldwide and all tariff free. 10% into the US only, but only if we are importing into there. Own production says probably very little.

Well if you buy to invest for the longer term and say dividend income and follow the old addage to buy when others are fearful or when there is blood in the streets then there are some tremendous bargains now appearing out there.

It's the other way around. 10% gets added to what's imported into the US. Mitigated though with in country production which THG has.

But your point re supermarket trickery with their prices is well made and my partner is forever returning from weekly shops and bemoaning 40p / 50p added to items.

Indeed another round no doubt next week 1pencil but the tariff on the UK is 10% so that's the maximum effect it can have from a price point perspective and despite the fact THG has it's own manufacturing facilities in the US the share price has already fallen further than that. In fact from the 36p just after the refinancing and paying down of significant chunk of debt thanks to Trump it's now down some 25%.

You also have to factor in that THG supplies goods in the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and many many more countries globally and on which we still trade freely. So imho hit of 10% or greater to the share price presumes THG manufactures solely in the UK - and that the US is it's only market.

You also make a good point on the interconnectivity of trade for some of these multinationals, with for instance Rolls Royce supplying engines for Boeing from the UK and I did notice also that not only did China retaliate with a reciprocal 34% they also cut off the full supply of critical minerals to America. That will impact key US aerospace and tech industries that are reliant on them. If most retaliate it will have a disproportionately -ve impact for the US and economics sadly is not Trumps strongest topic.

Been a good week for the defensive stocks and the odd bargain. The weekend now to research the biggest fallers over the last two days and to see if there are any glaring anomolies against stated tariffs to watchlist for an entry point. Timely given £40k of self and partners new ISA allowances come Monday and new Capital Gains Tax allowances for the year ahead.

1870 points off the Dow at the close and looking at the volume today probably about another 5Mill to 6 Mill for Mike Ashley / Frasers today. Can't see him personally not taking advantage and greater advantage on any further falls. Trump and China's response today look set to give me a cheaper entry than even I had thought.

Jerome Powell the Fed Chair was diplomatically telling him today the consequences of his actions with inflation and slowing growth but he won't listen. Give him 2 weeks, EU and western and asian economies counter sanctioning and the CEO's and Billionairres of US companies screaming at him, then It'll hit him. One flippant remark today telling everyone to "get rich" out of the situation makes me think that he himself and his enterprises will be making money out of this.

So pragmatically looking at things the cost of an Apple Iphone in China just went up by 34%, Same for a Tesla, Cost of Boeing planes will have to rise to accomodate cost increases from it's engine and wing makers. Then in the UK and affected countries everybody will probably boycott US goods in favour of UK and European products. All in all it will probably end up having completely the opposite effect to that desired.

Fortunately for many affected companies the weekend intervenes to hopefully dampen things down a bit. We might even see some common sense prevail and people might work out who it directly impacts, and who it doesn't.

It needs somebody to challenge the present delivery and set up of the Board, so a seat on the Board would be welcomed by many.

Should any of these come to pass, just out of interest and having suffered yet another years cataclysmic fall in the THG share price, if there were 3 insertions onto this years AGM ballot sheet which way would people vote.

1. Mike Ashley to be granted a seat on the THG Board?

2. Mike Ashley to replace the present Chairman?

3. Mike Ashley to replace the present CEO?

Despite Aston Martin manufacturing all it's cars in the UK and with over 1/4 of its dealerships in the US - and being faced with +25% tariffs to export into the US, its share price is now up on the mediocre falls of yesterday.

Whereas THG which has it's own manufacturing bases in the US ....?

Ashley can easily win the day here if he keeps accumulating. More firepower and just look at that £200M facility he just got off HSBC in November. Plus he is not frightened of clashing heads and challenging existing status quo's if things can be done better.

If it was his / The Frasers Group algo's that helped fuel yesterdays disproportionate fall then he got fed about another 4 Million shares. In the same breath if it is he, then with the share price where it is he also gets his revenge on John Goold (BOO Director and Kelso invested in THG) and Iain Mac (BOO Director and Invested in THG) for BOO occurrences.

I see him continuing to increase his holding pre AGM. Then it would be interesting to see how many would vote for him if he did challenge for a seat on the Board or indeed the Chairman or the CEO's role.

Well I've been here around 3 years plus with various sizes of shareholdings and I have to say that RNS is reiterating that THG is actually in the best financial shape debt wise it has ever been in.

Yet the share price is actually at the lowest.

Could ideally do with it staying around here until Monday for the start of the new ISA year.
