so a company that manufactures in the uk and has 45 showrooms out of 165 which are in the us.

You have to laugh as companies that export significantly to the US: Diageo, Rolls Royce both marginally down. BAe also doing big business - actually up over 3%

It's the same old shares that get hit for 6 on any poor market days.

Didn't see Ukraine mentioned anywhere in Trump tariffs and highly doubtful FXPO export much if any output to the US.

8.95% drop is incredible really.

No point blaming MM or TGL for todays price action. I don't think even he / they anticipated Mike Ashley / Frasers presumably trying to buy cheaper, and also being facilitated by a MAGA Trump dip and ensuing irrational markets in many instances.

In fairness though to THG with localised production in the US I think any impact will be minimal and did post as much earlier.

The irony of today is that you have companies that WILL DEFINITELY be directly affected by Trump tariffs but yet are down by only smaller percentages.

Diageo which operates something like 29 whisky distilleries in Scotland and exports whisky to the US - down only 0.59%

Rolls Royce which sells substantially to the aerospace industry in the US for the likes of Boeing. Did £5.5Billion of business in the US last year - down only 1.3%

Bae Systems - does large defence trade with the US and will be impacted - up 3.18%.

Not agreeing with all that you say there LT1 but there has been a clear and appreciable drop off in investor confidence and in the share price and volume ever since the State Bureau of Investigation published their first article on "nationalisation" of Zhevago's assets.

So if it is as per the Notice served, 90 days to negotiate and resolve or the matter progresses outside to International arbitration and effectively International law then Ukraine have until something like the 17th June to engage and resolve.

Thereupon I have to agree with Zhevago that whoever published that SBI article is going to cost the country and awful lot of money in investor compensation, plus interest.

Then we know from the likes of Japan that they can further establish in country production with existing suppliers.

So THG might already be set up to escape any tariff impacts from the US.

It isn't 49% of FXPO that Ukraine are trying to nationalise, it is 49.5% of the Poltavo mine which lawyers are arguing they can't do for Zhevago owns shares in FXPO, not the mine, hence why they are saying it is illegal.

Then furthermore the Protection of Investment Bilateral Agreements on Trade state and clearly in place between the Ukraine and the UK and Switzerland state that you have to compensate investors to the sum of any loss from where the share price was the day before any talk of nationalisation or appropriation started. That's now standing at some £500M to £600M compensation off the present share price and could rise to double that should it happen.

But I get your point in that even if they were to still proceed then it would only represent 49.5% of the mine and controlling ownership would still be with FXPO.

Unfortunately unless something changes for the better and fast it is everyday lives that have been kept in employment through 3 years of conflict that will bear the consequences of these decisions and on a wider note who on earth in the future would be even tempted to invest in the country. Imvho.

When most shares are being caught with tariffs and counter tariffs and looming potential trade wars there are probably no better stocks to be parked up in than defensive stocks: the likes of your Supermarkets, Utilities, Financials and shares that are largely impervious to "physical" trade in goods between countries.

People might not wish to pay an extra 25% on a Tesla if the EU retaliate but people always need to eat and drink and live their are plenty countries out there globally from which the supermarkets can alternatively source products.

The UK as it happens seems to have come off better than most.

Now wouldn't it be nice if THG the great champion of technology and the internet and online retailing actually had a website to let everyone know what assets they have and where. Then we might see some more investors being able to quickly assess things and onboarding.

Flat start and the market seems ok with what will have to be a 10% inflationary hike to prices. Either that or shareholders suffer it and absorb it. US being one of our biggest markets. Please, please, please, no decisions on absorbing the inevitable price rises to try and retain custom then only to rebrand again and lose most of it.

Or do we spend and outlay on US based production facilities specifically for the Protein goods side as we already have Bentley labs for the Beauty side over there.

Just got to hope Donald J Trump doesn't put his foot in it tonight with his tariffs announcements and that these and any retaliatory measures don't spook world markets.

Well if VAT refunds haven't been restarted and they are intent on cutting production then it will most certainly and unfortunately lead to job losses and cuts in corporation tax / government revenue, and although the profit and loss won't look pretty going forward sometimes you have to make a statement that enough is enough.

Putin seems to want Zelenski gone as part of any peace deal (unlikely imo) and presently is about the best we can wish for until conflict end.

Talks are stalling and it needs a time dated ultimatum placed on the Russian side to ceasefire, or with massive sanction consequence for Russia and all doing business with them. That I see coming over the next couple of weeks.
