I spent a few hours at the weekend trying to find out more about the Zacatecas lithium reserves. The one that kept coming up was that lithium is plentiful in the region, but also quite extensively spread out throughout a wide range of salars. It's not hard to find, and the region may well be the next major hotspot (along Chile and Argentina) but the trick is finding it in dense enough quantities to make commercial extraction viable. I also found that there are not 'that' many mining companies operating in the region, and that if you can get a solid foothold, there's a lot of upside.
