PP, nice to see that you're happy to throw your ex-colleagues under the bus.....even if the CWU agreed to what we currently have (an enforced 2% deal), RM UK are still reporting losses in excess of £1m per day and it doesn't look as though the situation is getting any better plus there is still the USO to be adhered to.
Bearing in mind your experience and decades in the sun booking overtime whilst still on normal duty and finishing early etc..... where would the poacher turned gamekeeper point the BoD in order to make the significance cost savings to get back to profit?

PP, would you, as a shareholder, also advocate for that policy to be brought in across the whole workforce including the senior management team?
I can't see any of the BoD refusing another glorious dip in the trough again this year though? £142k for a dismal year last year could be a nice little earner this year?.....

JB, my feelings are that it's been a bruising encounter for both sides, neither of which has covered themselves in glory. I believe that there is a deal to be done that will benefit the majority of staff however any fresh ruling by OFCOM on the future direction of the USO could also play an important role in reaching a conclusion.
Frustratingly, if the last "best and final" offer from the BoD had been on the table at the end of last September, I believe that the unpleasant November and December could have been avoided.

We now know that was not the case however Thompson had to keep quiet about what he knew until after the full year results were announced.

Maximas posted of buying way back at the beginning of March 2022 at 360p and posted " I have bought again this week,although now in quite deep,and past my level I would normally go to,just carnt resist at these levels" so presumably he has made a nice wedge out of the 75% OTB 2022 increase and reinvested in IDS or it could just be hot air?

Teddy, I totally agree with you. I had released funds on the grounds that the CWU re-ballot would shift the price down this week but I'm not sure that it will go as low as 200p, well certainly not by the end of the week?

JB, I have been speaking with my equivalent in our engineering department over December and it seems that the national head of engineering, who had apparently been in post for about fifteen years and had been a RM employee since leaving school in 1988 was "released" at the end of November to be replaced by a former Jaguar Land Rover manager who was also a colleague of one of Thompson's recently appointed regional directors.

RT003, I share your opinion that the SP will rise, albeit tentatively whilst negotiations are ongoing but there will be a resolution to this. I was rather hoping for a little dip before releasing some more funds to purchase more so I may purchase some now and some after the February financial update. Not sure if there will be a dividend announcement on the back of GLS profits so we will have to wait and see?

PP, the Evri model works fine. My Evri delivery driver earns far more than a Royal Mail postie although he does have to do his own tax return, provide his own pension and doesn't receive holiday pay which all need to be factored in.

PP, I believe that the company formerly known as Hermes employ this exact business model?

Boark, I totally agree. A fleet of owner/drivers will not require derv stations or motor transport depots so there are savings to be made straight away plus the added benefit of reducing the company's carbon footprint to meet targets will surely be a winner?
I can see this as a great alternative to the business having to go through the hassle of supplying electric vehicles.

Hardly anyone cared but if you believe the media there were plenty of businesses and receiving customers that were furious that their goods hadn't arrived, although perhaps that was the media filling out some slow news days with false information?

DillyD, I hear that they are planning on a fire and rehire P&O style strategy which will leave Amazon free to break into the ever expanding Highlands and Islands market whilst DPD and Evri may team up to take on the letter box collection mail using the new Tesla Cybervans. It's all rather exciting stuff.

If what he was posting was true then in any normal business he would have almost certainly been instantly dismissed for taking the company from being profitable at +£1m a day to loss making at -£1m a day over a six month period.....but he's still in post, so in the words of Aretha Franklin...... who's zoomin' who.....

In my opinion, "Work to Rule" is a dangerous path to tread (no pun intended) as it may raise more questions than it answers such as "why were you not doing this before?"

AngerSharkz, I guess that you could make an argument for Bozo's turning of the "Red Wall" blue at the last election (so many Prime Ministers, so little time) or even potentially the Brexit vote (probably best not to revisit that one?...lol, however what are you implying could be applied to the majority of elections in the free world?
On a personal level, I can certainly say that every union member in my unit (albeit only nine of us) voted yes in both ballots and we all knew exactly what we were voting for having read both sides of the story.

PP, I believe that the last ballot paper asked "are you prepared to take strike action?" and underneath a simple binary choice between "yes" and "no". I'm not entirely sure how this could be misconstrued or lead someone to vote yes when they really meant no.
On the subject of ballots, it never ceases to amuse me when the suggestion is made that the thousand or so union reps have somehow managed to brainwash a hundred thousand plus workers into voting for industrial action? I'm not sure that Derren Brown or Paul McKenna could pull that one off.....lol
