Business as usual at my mail centre today. Around 80 to 100 staff doing their jobs and interacting with no enforcement of keeping distance from each other. One A4 sheet on the H&S notice board with the usual government guidelines. Employees told to supply their own hand gel if they think that it's necessary.
Yet last night the Prime Minister was on the box saying that all pubs, clubs and restaurants were to close from 11pm yesterday. Perhaps RM staff are immune? We are 14 days behind the Italians and on the same contamination curve which is quite scary considering their current state.

Also, sewage treatment plants are asking people not to flush their Venezuelan Bolivars down the toilet as they are clogging up their equipment...lol

pp. not after an accolade but took 3 letters today from customers asking for milk and bread....as they staying in and no family to help... they got it now as went back in my own time and delivered it... their face was enough thanks when I arrived..... bless …

JB, my youngest child's school contacted me on Monday to ask if I required assistance in the event of schools closing. I hope that all schools follow this example.

HHIAN2, I have always advocated that PDAs and hand held scanners should be "personal" but I have been told that this would be too expensive. In my office there are OPGs that will leave scanners in their locker so that they get the same one so we probably need the charging cabinets to have alcohol wipes nearby or even fit some type of UV sterilisation unit. Perhaps fitting thermal imaging cameras (to measure head temperature) at the main entrance to the sorting office or mail centre would be helpful?
Of course one of the bigger fears is when a postie working on a busy late shift is diagnosed with Covid19. Do we ask the late shift to isolate?

Anyway Wolves, by your calculations, if the CWU managed a 100% turnout and 100% yes vote it would mean that only 89% of the workforce were in favour . Presumably that would not be seen as a "good" result as less than 90%?

Wolves, where are you getting your figures from? I think that you will find that the "30,000" non CWU members includes mangers who are definitely not eligible to vote. The number of non union members in CWU represented grades is actually less than 11,000 which rather changes your figures?
