Scampthedog, I couldn't agree more. Whether you like/dislike* the RM BoD/CWU* (delete as applicable) is immaterial here as nothing that we post will make a jot of difference and will not be seen or noted by anyone of significant power.
Rico's 5 year plan has another 44 months to run but it will be trashed if he cannot get the workforce to help him do it. It looks like the SP is destined to stay below £2 and the dividend also looks to be in danger?

Perhaps it's role reversal? RM are clearly provoking the workforce so I would say that they would be pleased to see us take IA.

The best way for CWU to upset RM is to win a ballot for IA, wait for RM to put countermeasures in place then call IA off. Last Christmas was bizarre as full timers were standing around while casuals did their work and the managers just let it happen.

In that case I'm definitely voting yes as it's not going to make any difference in the long run anyway.

Wolves, I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm saying that the company that organised the ballot papers should have pointed it out beforehand if it was going to void the ballot.

Surely if it was in breach of the ballot regulations then CVS should have pointed this out to the CWU as they are organising the process?

You know that's not gonna happen. It's about as likely as Scotland voting for independence and renationalising the Royal Mail. Anyway, the UK government would not allow it to happen.

200iq, RoMEC were brought back 'in house' a couple of years ago but are not fully integrated which means that they don't have RM uniform and will not be balloted.

Mark, I think that RM would eventually like to keep deliveries and outsource everything else. The catering has been outsourced to Quadrant for years and buildings maintenance is carried out by RoMEC so it will probably be a natural progression to outsource the professional drivers and fleet maintenance services in order to save on staff costs. I dare say that there are other areas that could be outsourced but in my experience it never really pays off in the long run, however if you are only running the show for a couple of years what does it matter if you leave an almighty mess behind as it will be somebody else's job to sort out.

Fruitster, I would like to think that you are correct with your statement "all bad news priced now" but I don't believe that it is as the market seems to be keen to drop the SP at the hint of bad news but is reluctant to increase proportionally on the breaking of any good news.

I can see the SP going down below £1.40 before the end of the month as I believe that the ballot will return a 90% turnout with 90% in favour of "strike action" as the ballot paper says. This is based upon the feeling in my mail centre and talking to workers in surrounding mail centres.
It would appear that both the CWU and the RM BoD are in favour of industrial action and are both keen to win at all costs but in my opinion there will be no "winners" here (except perhaps our competitors) as both sides appear to be totally blinkered.
I can't see TP getting the sack as he has just been re-elected but if RB doesn't pull this out of the bag then I think that he could be put under intense scrutiny.

Investorjohn5, I am not aware of any impending court case however I do know of several OPGs that have gone through ACAS and received settlements of between £400 and £750 as they can then back claim for 2 years.
It would appear that RM are not complying with the law because they claim that overtime is voluntary but even voluntary overtime falls within the framework of the ruling.
