If Rico was currently in the UK it wouldn't necessarily add any £s to the balance sheet but it's hard to cultivate the "we're all in this together" vibe when clearly we are not. Sometimes just being visible is enough to stop the rank and file from pointing the finger.
Having said that, what is the point of the CEO anyway? What influence, knowledge and wisdom does he bring that someone like Stuart Simpson does not have? If Rico is pivotal to the success of RM then you would have thought that he would be more visible. If he isn't that pivotal, we'll go figure.

Red, I am looking at my copy of the letter from Rico that arrived today. It is interesting to note that RM have used the informal (AKA) database for names this time.
The letter is fairly standard and contains the sort of statements that you would expect to see in the Courier magazine and thanks RM staff for their commitment but at no point mentions that he wishes that he could be at the coal face in these tough times or indeed regrets that he cannot currently be in the UK to show his solidarity with the workforce during a troubled period.
I wasn't a great fan of Moya Greene, but I can guarantee that she would have made sure that she was seen in various workplaces. Unlike his predecessor, Rico does not appear to have the human touch which is why it is difficult to warm to him.

Farhantahir, don't expect a dividend payment anytime soon. Personally I think that dividend payments should be suspended until the business transformation is complete. Sound harsh? Not really as the business needs to transform and has to be funded. Why should the workforce have to fund it.

Absolutely correct for the business to want necessary change, even the union want necessary change to drive the business forward however it's a matter of difference as to how that change is managed.
Just as the CWU couldn't stop privatisation, it probably won't stop Rico Back and the Board from driving the company forward whilst reducing the workforce, pillaging the workers TS&C's along the way so that he can stand proud and say "look what I have achieved".

It has to be said that times of crisis bring out the true personality. The big movers and shakers in business, finance and politics don't get where they are by being "nice", they get where they are because they have the ability to see others as objects to be used as a means to an end.

200iq, we were told by our MCM that we couldn't be furloughed as we were classed as "key workers". We were also originally told that applications for unpaid leave would be rejected but I think that stance has now changed.

Looking at South Korea and China, it does appear that testing is key to reducing the number infected here. Hopefully our NHS staff and also care home staff can be tested before everyone else. Police officers, shop workers, bus drivers and delivery drivers probably need to be tested next as they have had a fair amount of contact.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the test results in order to determine how many have had Covid19 without realising it.
I agree with your sentiment that a vaccine could be a long way off and hopefully there won't be a second spike or some type of mutation of the virus that comes back to bite us.

Mad, the "relaxation" of the USO has certainly given Rico a free pass and the decision has been taken to prioritise on parcels in my office. Last week we were shutting down LSMs and failing 1C letters in order to concentrate on parcels plus social distancing measures meant that we didn't have enough space for everyone which is presumably why we didn't take on extra staff from Angard. Perhaps RM didn't want to pay Bank Holiday rate to clear the backlog in order to concentrate on cost savings but it would have been an ideal opportunity to achieve clearance.

200iq, looking at the data, China appeared to have this under control within five weeks although I'm still sceptical about their reporting methods and I think that their figure of 3341 deaths out of a population of 1.2bn is fanciful.
I think that the data from Italy and Spain is probably more useful and gives a better indication as to where we are going with this as we are on a similar trajectory. France seems to still be reporting the odd spike in daily deaths which would indicate a glitch in reporting methods. All in all, I believe that we haven't quite reached the peak (hopefully this week will be the one) before the figures start to steadily drop but I think that we are going to be in lockdown until early May and potentially still practicing social distancing (which has been a mindful process) for quite a while yet.

Ispy, so an average of 120 yours per mail centre? I'm not surprised to hear this as we did not have a late or night shift in Good Friday, Saturday or Sunday so it's all going to back up. I did check with my line manager that attendance wasn't required this weekend (due to increased volumes) and he was adamant that we wouldn't be required even though we have had a full articulated trailer parked in the yard every evening this week.
It will be interesting on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings next week.

Teslo, I don't think that there are any regular users of the LSE RMG forum that would be naive enough to purchase on a "recommendation" from another anonymous poster as it would be foolish.
As Falkland would post, you need to do your own research, draw your own conclusions, separate the bull from the truth and accept the outcome of your actions.
You come across as someone who has studied the stock market and presumably know your way around charts so presumably you are looking for an inside track on the business in order to gain a vantage point so why do you have a beef with Fruitster? Have you lost capital as a result of following his advice? Just asking to sate my curiosity.

Teslo, so you are buying low and selling high? Congratulations but isn't that what most on here are trying to do? Obviously there are some investors here that were happy to leave their shares alone and take a regular income from the dividend, which has now been removed but in general most want to get in and get out with a bit of a profit. You can run charts with fancy names and run elaborate spreadsheets all day long but day trading will always be nothing more than a calculated gamble. If you are up on the gamble and making a living then that's good.

Teslo, there is no growth in "zero sum" thinking as you are basing your gains on the losses of others based on a fixed number of units. You may as well play draughts?
