Wolves, unfortunately I have to disagree with you on the point regarding redundancies.
I post as someone who has recently (2015) been made "redundant" by RM so I am extremely familiar with the MtSF Agreement (managing the surplus framework) which has been in place for a number of years and has been used to reduce headcount in RM.

Just to be clear, RM and OFCOM have agreed "temporary changes" to the Saturday delivery service.

Taff8, it will be staffed as normal. RM want to ensure that only packets and parcels are delivered and also to help with getting the Covid19 test kits back to the labs within the 48hr timeframe.
If you post a letter in a postbox on Saturday morning it will not be collected and processed until Monday afternoon.

That's easy, Rico borrowed £1.8bn last year so the £500m is easily covered as that money will be recouperated after 2 years by not paying out staff wages.

Why did the managers call the Police? It sounds like there was a bit of "previous" here and the managers wanted revenge. I can only assume that the "manager(s) were graduates (space cadets) who were completely unfamiliar with the conduct code procedures. If I was one the coppers I would have read the riot act to the management for being so weak and wasting Police time.

JB, the CWU sent out a WhatsApp message on the 6th of April stating "93 MPs have written to Rico Back supporting the CWU proposals on temporary changes to the service to protect postal workers and the public" although I'm not sure if that was to do with the USO.
As I stated yesterday, it's going to be extremely difficult to maintain the operation if we are going to maintain social distancing, especially in smaller delivery offices. I also think that this will give Rico the green light to press ahead with the next two parcel hubs at full steam. I believe that the second one will be in Rugby but I'm not sure how much headway the project made before lockdown? I'm not sure where the third one will be.

A pretty intense press session from Downing Street today. It's looking more likely that we will be in lockdown for a little longer with social distancing potentially being in force for some time to come.
Currently, our mail centre is running between 15% to 18% sick (which is actually below average) and this will need to be the norm if social distancing measures are to be maintained correctly. If sick leave levels were down to 4% then we may have to send staff home as the office won't be big enough for everyone to have their space.

Hardup, if you are worried about the threat of the CWU and IA then this is most definitely not the share for you. Probably better to be like Lee Grant (Man It's ex 3rd choice goalkeeper) and sit it out on the sidelines...lol.
While we're on lockdown you might as well do some Googling. You will possibly discover that the threat of IA from the CWU is an annual event and normally surfaces around late September or early October (just in time for Christmas) and probably has something to do with talks breaking down on next year's pay deal. Incidentally, we still need to ballot on the 2020 pay deal which should have already happened but we will wait until this pandemic is over. Then in late September or early October 2020 we will be ramping up for an IA vote on the four pillars or 2021 pay deal or Rico out etc... You may see a pattern emerging here?

JB, I'm pretty sure that Terry Pullinger mentioned this in one of his recent Facebook videos that Rico wasn't prepared to discuss the 2020 pay deal (which wasn't part of the IA ballot) until the current situation is more settled.

Wind of change or not, Boris is in No10 until December 2023 at least and he's a Tory so it won't take long for him to revert to type.

I can't see any Tory government taking RM back under state ownership. Cameron and Cable got shot of it like it was a "cut & shut" 1980s Ford Capri with a dodgy gearbox.

It doesn't define what would qualify as "failure" so therefore a bit ambiguous?

How very true. We had a letterbox collection yesterday but instead of processing it through our machines it is say in York containers and will now be processed on Monday afternoon so that we can concentrate on our manual parcels operation.
BTW, one of my colleagues at a larger office has told me that their parcel sorting machine has been working 24/7 for the last two weeks and there is a panic whenever it stops because of a jam which apparently can be quite time consuming to clear. I'm not sure what they will do if it breaks down with a major issue?

The share price was plummeting long before the Coronavirus pandemic, perhaps not all his fault as I suspect that there was a certain amount of market manipulation going on but nevertheless there must have been a good reason as the market is not usually wrong.
Perhaps it was down to the boldness of his 5 year plan and the market didn't see it as achievable? Perhaps they didn't think that he was the correct person to take the company forward? Perhaps they didn't think that he would be able to get around the CWU issue? Perhaps it was a complex array of issues?
