I would agree Grotty definitely had an impact on the price. Which is only a good thing. I still think we are a couple of years away from any possible takeover.

Thanks for the info Fossie. I am with Lloyds and after reading your post spoke to them. Again they said they would send an update soon and certificates are £25.
Going to give them till Monday and if they can’t get their act together it’s paper certificates.

Share buybacks are all well and good until further down the line the business needs to raise more money and sells them back in a placing.
We should be safe in that is something Shell wouldn’t do but who knows what happens in the next 10 years.
They could do an acquisition which will be cash and stocks bringing those shares as part of the buyback, back in play.

Agree draftking. BHP has delivered some exceptional dividends over the past year. For now I would be happy with 6% and an annual growth of around 12% which it has delivered over the past 5 years.
I loaded up a month back which in hindsight wasn’t a great move as it is 15% down from there. But long term it sits with BATS and SHEL as a hopeful small income provided in 12 years.

To be fair Yuri the reduced profits was because of a £957m impairment charge connected to its Russian operations.
Results were okay. Not breathtaking but definitely could have been a lot worse.

Let’s hope so Charles but you did predict 800p by the end of this July back in February.

Broker ratings like Motley Fool are only deemed a reliable source when they fall in our favour. Otherwise clueless and uneducated seems to be the norm for any negative news. A consistent steady rise in DT would be greatly appreciated.

The only remaining option is rejoining the European Single Market same as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
That could be very difficult though depends on Germany they all bow to them.

Although I should have picked up 6 months ago just bought in after selling off shipping stocks.
BATS seems a better hedge against inflation. Also a strong balance sheet and the dividends will be welcome for this long term hold.
