Am I seeing things? All the initial gain on very decent figures just wiped out and replaced by a minus. This was too much for me so I topped up. What has GSK got to do to persuade the market it is the ONLY sizeable pharma in UK to be firing on all cylinders?

If by JV, then current holders reduce their long term value, which is still not great but at least they don't have to spend more right now. So smart money has started to move the SP down ahead of the meeting. I still have resisted the temptation to boy more but may stick on another lowball limit buy again. As for all that precious mineral sand, this market doesnt seem to give anything credit for possible future wealth.

With so many pubs closing the sensible argument is that those remaining will be better frequented more especially over the Xmas and New Year. I am told by a publican friend that the reason why CPC likes to have more than one pub in each busy city is so that the trained staff can be easily switched between pubs in the same city depending on staffing requirements. And most of the buildings have been bought for decent prices - freehold so are unlikely to lose even if they have to be sold. Which is a good case for holding CPC even if, like me, you are not in positive territory either to visit and enjoy them or, at present, to sell them profitably.

I hold a load of these and would be pretty pleased with a positive update but there has not been any commitment to make one by any future date so let's not kid ourselves. Sure IMM have a duty to submit biennial company reports but that is all.

...where I*can understand cos are reluctant to publish RNS even with great news because the market is on such a downward slope that it will not make any difference to the SP. More news here that under normal circs should be moving the SP from £2 to perhaps nearer £26.

Spot on, anon3, and I do not like reminding myself how much my p/f is down.

I think the market may hit bottom about third week in January but that is only a hunch.

In the meantime we either sell all for cash (stupid if you don't need it) - do nothing (fine if you do not wish to buy more on the cheap) or risk averaging down on some.

My final comment is to look at the divis you could earn on those in the p/f if you added cum div. It might add a crumb of comfort if it earned you a high %.. The decision is tricky.
