Still, it's good news that it's economically feasible right? lol
And another article that doesn't realise Ganfeng don't own 100% of the reserves. Sigh. @Kiran!!!?
"Bacadehuachi Lithium Deposit Is Economically Feasible: LitioMx" (11/11/2022 )
https://mexicobusiness.news/mining/news/bacadehuachi-lithium-deposit-economically-feasible-litiomx

Currently, there is only one lithium deposit in Mexico that has proven reserves: the Bacadehuachi deposit, owned by the China-based Ganfeng Lithium. In the past, industry experts doubted the deposit’s economic feasibility, as extracting the mineral from clay deposits is an underdeveloped and unproven method because lithium is more commonly found in salt deposits.
Nonetheless, LitioMx’s latest report stated the contrary and assured that exploiting the mineral from clay deposits is possible. The company calculated that separating lithium from clay would cost US$4,000/t, which means that the process is economically feasible. “[People] say that no technology in the world will allow lithium extraction from clay deposits… We must end this propagandistic myth that says Sonora’s lithium is not as profitable as any other lithium deposit in the world,” the Governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, said in October.

Not forgetting Lithium for Mexico might want a stake...
I personally think there's a good chance they'll go for two 50ktpa Lithium Hydroxide operations. One fully on KDNC's 30% JV area - meeting in the middle. But if they go down this route I think it's likely we'll sell out to Ganfeng or one of the EV/battery manufactures before, or as it is announced, ideally retaining a royalty. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, perhaps not...
Indeed @Mer. 18.6% of the JORC defined reserves are associated to KDNC, the other 81.4% our partners - Ganfeng. About 3.6% of the current 35ktpa LCE mining plan is associated with KDNC. Anyone who thinks that Sonora is sticking at 35ktpa simply isn't paying attention, and since our JV's surround Ganfeng's 100% area, it's pretty much nailed on expansion is going to mean we will be mined earlier and in greater volume. We could be talked low double digit percentages of a multi-billion dollar project associated with KDNC - going once, going twice... :-)))
I suspect all but a handful of long term holders have forgotten that Tesla have already had samples of our clay... Could even be that they've been experimenting with to "simplify" the Lithium extraction process. ;-)
Absolutely @Zoom - in case you missed it from my upcoming news links.
"EXCLUSIVE: GANFENG EYES US OEMS FOR “STRATEGIC” STAKE IN MEXICAN LITHIUM PROJECT" (8th April 2022)

China’s Ganfeng Lithium says major US automakers could make a “strategic” investment in the Sonora lithium mine in Mexico, as they seek to create a North American supply chain for battery raw materials.
China’s largest lithium producer said that an investment by Ford, GM or Tesla would help provide automakers with reliable supplies of lithium that can be easily shipped across the border to plants in the US.
“We are open to having strategic investors in our Mexico project, together with investment we could have an offtake agreement with them,” Wang Xiaoshen, vice chairman of Ganfeng, told Benchmark

Well it's here, but dubbed. lol:

Looks like the link I posted earlier contains it all - I've pulled out the most significant bits:

With the support of the United States , it is estimated that from 2022 to 2030 an additional investment of around $48 billion will be required. They will mobilize from the public and private sectors to double the clean energy generation capacity in Mexico and reduce 52 million tons of carbon. This is, without a doubt, one of the most outstanding contributions of the G20 countries during this decade to climate action.
...
So this is a very simple picture of how the critical minerals are actually connected in these two processes , which is lithium, as we're going to explain that we have in the state that ends up in electric vehicle batteries, but also semiconductors, which every EV battery , everything around the EVs has semiconductors , so they are interconnected. An electric car has more than 3,000 semiconductors, a conventional one more than a thousand.
So the state of Sonora is critical. It's a bit like Michigan, Mr. Kerry. Sonora is the key mining state of Mexico . It has the largest lithium reserve in the hemisphere, but it is also the only producer of graphite, which is the other element among many other elements that you can see on the screen that are linked to electromobility and semiconductors.

Not found the full press release yet - but getting there. lol:

Worth a watch from the weekend explaining the Sonora Plan - which is very ambitious, and from what I can see will need all the Lithium it can get its hands on! :-)))

I make the TL;DR on upcoming news as:
Amapa Iron Ore: First right of refusal to increase ownership stake from 27% (soon 30%) towards 49% of a project that had discounted cash flow valuations of $1.2B Anglo & $1.66B Cliffs and an initial valuation when purchased by Anglo of $3.2B in 2008.
- Anticipated order of events: PFS (Due to be published in Q4), 20%/IPO/DFS.
- Shipment of stockpiles recommencing when conditions are favourable.
Sonora Lithium: In conversation (Feb 2022) with Ganfeng regarding KDNC's 30% JV's.
- Anticipated order of events: Possible sale of some of Sonora to Lithium for Mexico, publication of expanded DFS, new off take/investors.
- No material impact on our joint venture areas from recent Lithium nationalisation initiative.
- Sonora Lithium Reserves, of which KDNC hold 18.6%, are integral to the Sonora Plan announced at COP27.
Evergreen Lithium: Initial public offering anticipated listing by the end of the year
Yangibana Rare Earths: Finalisation of agreement to take A$9m in HAS shares in exchange for our joint venture areas due in Q4
EMH Lithium: DFS, advancing discussions with government, EU and then with off-takers and financiers.
My Latest valuation estimates, and Due Diligence by u/EV-BULL suggest the market is currently discounting Amapa and Sonora to near zero contribution to the NAV.

lol @Bannor - the lengths I go to help new and existing holders on here. Not purely altruistic of course - the more buyers, the higher the share price! Unfortunately it's not a simple copy and paste job this time...
Just a question of time before we hear something @jimb. And that's just for Sonora, never mind all of the other news flow we've got incoming! Maybe I'll do a summary later :-)
Now the politics is out there, the deals should follow. :-)
"So the state of Sonora is critical. It's a bit like Michigan, Mr. Kerry. Sonora is the key mining state of Mexico . It has the largest lithium reserve in the hemisphere" of which we have 18.6% attributable to us :-)

Good spot jimb! Now hunt for the details! :-)))
Just a reminder we were tipped by Justin Urquhart Stewart at 28p. He's right, you certainly have to be brave investing here! :-)

For the brave: Cadence Minerals (28p)
This is a riskier investment as it is not just a corporate story but involves politics as well. Cadence (formerly known as Rare Earth Minerals) is not a mining company but bears more resemblance to an investment trust made up of rare earth mining companies.
Rare earth minerals are in high demand but are often difficult to extract. Sometimes this is due to geology, but more often because of geography. Often they are from developing nations with poor infrastructure alongside an unreliable political backdrop.
The largest deposits are in China, and having your investments reliant upon the Communist party there may not be the best position for your portfolio. Cadence reduces risk by giving you a basket of rare earth mining companies and most of its assets are outside the direct clutches of the Chinese authorities directly.
One is in the Czech Republic, where Cadence has a significant holding in a lithium mine. This is a longer-term investment. Success will come if the portfolio companies show their mines are money makers and not just money pits.

Wonder how much of a rise we would need for the BoD to issue a statement: "We know shareholders are keen to hear the Sonora Plan which will be announced and detailed at COP27 later this week, but they will just have to wait and see like the rest of the world". lol.
It's not the number of shares in issue that is of importance, it's how they are distributed, who they are distributed to. Sticky or loose hands? Given the placing at 20.5p I'm guessing many will be sticky, I know mine are!. Oh, and the BoD have options at 29p...
18.6% of the reserves. Any indication of a change of mining plan to include more of that, or a substantial increase to the ktpa from 35ktpa LCE, and we could see eye-watering increases here: if we haven't already bagged or more on FOMO, or sold out... ;-)
