This is incredibly cheap btw - gold is still well over 1400 and silver over 17.... and the share price a lot cheaper than when gold and silver were a lot lower!

I dont buy it for one second. I would say the CWU are the real bullies; their statements are aggressive; their approach militant. 97% vote for strike is pretty much a dictatorship....

Bubbles - I worked in PwC - travelled from Belfast to London and other parts of the UK at 5.30am three days a week. I worked for a boss who was a bully. I worked 80 hour weeks - got no over time. I was given projects in areas I had little or no knowledge.... don't lecture me on working conditions - I never whinged and whined... I got on with it. If things were as bad as you say, I dare say the churn rate or staff turnover rate wouldn't be 7%. If you don't like RMG, work somewhere else... the door is open, just leave. I actually think a lot of the bullying is actually management trying to move RMG into the real world.... my postie didn't look stressed walking around my estate - he wouldn't get a meddle for walking quick! I wonder why the staff turnover rate is so low - 1/3 of the national average.... strange!

investors are doing businesses a favour - parting with their hard earned money and buying the company from the Government. We are the only and ultimate owners of RMG. The Government flogged it as it was loss making. I'm not apologising in wanting to make a return and I make no apology for expressing my views on CWU. Royal Mail is not owned by the Unions but it seems the Unions have bought employees vote in return for the promise of some unrealistic demands. It seems that a 97% vote in favour of strike leaves the workforce pretty much brainwashed and incapable of any independent thought of the need for radical changes in RMG. Good luck - and just remember RMG is not public sector or a public service - its 100% private sector and almost all of you posties are as capitalist as any on these share forums. Your votes for strike are nothing more than large scale looting and sabotage of your own shares and their long-term prospects.

Derek - I think the least we should expect is a good dividend considering we've absorbed a 40% reduction in share price. Anti-capitalists like yourself will discover just how bad the losses for Labour will be in a few weeks time. Any right minded person would avoid Labour like the plaque...

Saw Labours manifesto... its like a 4 year olds santa wish list.... I think the commitments add to hundreds of billions.... he has reduced his chances of winning power to around 1%. lucky to get 150 seats.... he's an economic illiterate idiot!

Both very credible investment options. I had £30k BP (on a T+20). Sold before I handed over money. I have £92k Aviva - better company imo. but up to you.

Banaman - the market is irrationally negative on Aviva.... how many companies have £11.5 billion spare capital that are valued at not much more? The news was - in my dispassionate and humble view - very good. The strategy was exceptional.

Rico painted a bleak picture for 2021/22 - he took the most pessimistic catastrophic position possible - don't know how he could as things can change rapidly!

I stand by my position that the results for the last 6 months were at the very upper end of my expectations. I stand by that now as I did before market open. To move from £33 million profit in H1 last year to over £100 million this year in a quiet part of the year (an increase of over 200%) and to keep borrowing at less than £200 million (exc. leases) is exceptional given the calamity globally.... fantastic result which is why I added.

Charlie - my dear lad... I didn't come on here very often because I was too busy elsewhere.... in case you missed it, most shares have been down over the last few weeks because of a thing called Brexit... luckily my dividends over the last year amount to over £20k.... but I can't get them because SVS went into liquidation.... I am confident that the Conservatives will win... and I echo the sentiment on here that RMG needs entirely broken up and mass redundancies should be made as quickly as possible. Rico is too polite and non-confrontational... even Margaret Thatcher didn't really take on Unions properly...

Bluelight - a few bad days set within the context of an upcoming General Election, ongoing Trade War and Brexit... and trade union militant's is going to impact the share price short term. However, I do believe that the Conservatives will win the election outright and shares across the board will re-rate... no point selling now...

Omerta - where have you got that assertion from? Aviva has £14 billion spare capital and cash... the entire value (almost) of issued share capital... and rising!!! It is most definitely worth £5 and well above that - a thing called a stupid market is holding it back. The Strategy was slated because it was common sense, understandable and crystal clear... imagine that!
