I have been casting an eye over Van Elle [VANL]. They are an engineering firm who specialise in foundation work. Well capitalised and in a sector that should do well when Covid clears. I watched the Investor Presentation this afternoon as there seems a fairly safe 50% over the next 6 months, especially if there is more rail work for them to pick up [it is a good margin sector].

The CEO mentioned in passing that they do not normally bid on contracts that their main competitor bids on. That does not seem to fit well with Competition rules / the spirit of those laws. Still tempted, but I will have to watch the presentation again carefully as a fine of 10% of turnover would turn the top end of 2021/22 profit into a substantial loss.

The December presentation stated that they were targetting an increase in the percentage of listed investments in the portfolio to 70%. This seemed odd at the time and the latest presentation still has the figure, so I can only presume that this is correct.
