The news articles shown below the slider always come from newsoulets close the slider. It's super interesting to see how news from the left and news from the right report the same events differently.

I have great expectations for PHC, but I am keeping an eye out for competitors with bigger bank accounts and more market influence who could simply swamp them. Zymergen came across my radar recently - agriculture is just part of their business. They are listing soon with a $3b valuation:

In the video the old bloke says that in the future you will have a machine that contacts the main computer for bank statements etc. When I worked for GOV there was a lot of interest in moving to dumb terminals [basically what the bloke said] as it means the terminals need not be upgraded, just the backends.

I was part of rolling out Interweb access for 100 000 Users in the mid 2000s. The network stresses were scary - they degraded services that people needed for daily use, so they would open up multiple instances of the same service to compensate for slow response times that would then dramatically increase the number of open sockets on the service that would then crash.
