Someone pointed out today on the Tecan board that Coffee futures hit a 12-year-high today.

Coffee? Coffee Rust (Hemileia vastatrix) has been responsible for crop devastation in Central America over the last few years; over 1/2 of a harvest can be wiped out when infestation sets in.

Plant Health Care is in the process of registering one of their peptide compounds in Brazil that has shown to be effective in treating Coffee Rust (their platform is showing promise against many fungal diseases). I have posted before about the company; they seem to be on the cusp of starting to generate significant free cash flow.

There is a growing market for safe biological treatments for all food crops; if you find a winner, you will do well. New non-toxic fungicides are desperately needed.

My tuppence on Great Western:

Fundamentals - no revenue but low losses
CEO's skin in the game low at 1.5x annual salary
Waiting on permits for the JV to process tailings
Could be more placings to come; if the tailings were attractive surely a royalty streaming agreement would have been preferable to the last placing?
Water is in short supply and the Democrats have a super majority in Nevada State so permitting may be more difficult than a Redneck State and ground water permits may be impossible?
The copper grades they have announced of around 0.5% a tonne are not that appealing.

My thoughts would be little interest until material progress (up to generating actual income from the sale of processed tailings) from the JV. But that is just from a 10 minute superficial read...

I had not realised the shortage of US mined silver when you bear in mind its need for the "new economy"; will there be subsidies through the Inflation Reduction Act? Could be a game changer for US / US friendly silver mines:
