ACA's mines will still be working, but the shareholders didn't get to benefit from it. The shareholders who were robbed are watching profits that should have been theirs going to others.

It is hard enough to make money picking winners, but to spot great potential, to buy in and wait for years while the company works hard to achieve its goals and then when the good times arrive, to see it snatched away is not a barrel of fun.

Further to my post - earlier, someone posted some utter gibberish, but I think I have translated it correctly - "You couldn’t make it up , where a company like this is valued at little more than it’s annual profit going forward ... [the last bit baffled me] ..."

My point is - could the low valuation be because of the Africa risk, as described in my previous post?

Great news. It doesn't get much better than this.

So why am I fearful?

I was in ACA. It was another great gold miner - and we were robbed. Governments aren't interested in stealing loss-makers. They want cash cows.

With ACA, there was an initial unjust claim for tax. ACA went to court and won the case. The Tanzanian judge said that ACA didn't owe any tax, they had paid all tax due.

The Tanz gov't backed off, but just for a short while then they hit ACA with the knockout blow, a claim of fraud, that ACA had produced ten times more gold than they had declared.

It still baffles me as to how they got away with that because the processing plant couldn't have processed such a massive amount of ROM. Then there was the energy bill, surely that would have gone up to a ridiculous level.

The only other way they could have produced ten times as much gold was if the grades were ten times higher than the drilling samples and laboratory analysis showed. That doesn't seem realistic to me. Imagine a laboratory getting it so badly wrong, and if it had, then ACA would have sued.

Then there was Ashanti in the early 1970s.

I'd like to see it hit $5,400 ... but ... the article say that she, "correctly predicted that the price of gold would hit $2,500 in the middle of 2024".

I'm sure that she is a very competent analyst, but the article fails to mention that she incorrectly predicted that the price of gold would hit $3,000 in November, 2024.

Even the top people can be wrong sometimes, but so long as they are right a lot more often than they are worng, then their reputation (which is on the line) stays in tact.

There you go Mr. Bond, I'm getting my excuses ready but I don't expect to need them. 180p by mid-March.

It's nearly the end of the week and it looks as though the sp won't hit 130p, a price that I mentioned a few days ago. I find that strange with the gold price rocketing.

Perhaps the gold price will attract interest next week, so 180p by mid-March still seems a realistic forecast.

Yes, and as I say, this is going parabolic. I also said it on here two or three weeks ago. I could see it on the charts back then and I am being proved right as each day passes. Whoops, blowing my own trumpet, but I do like to let people know that analysing the chart works and after all, isn't that what a trumpet is for?

I need to add that even if it fails to hit 130p by the end of the week, that doesn't mean that 180p by mid-March won't happen. A 130p close just make me more confident.

Something else I need to add is that this forecast is based on things being pretty normal, no un-expected events as happened to ACA and more recently to THX for example, or any other unforeseen shockers.

As Prime Minster Macmillan said when asked what was the most difficult thing to deal with, "Events my dear boy, events".

Forecasting a price target is one thing but forecasting timing is another. My price targets are often correct, very much more often than not and that is thanks to TA of the price chart.

However I have never before made a forecast about the timing. Getting the timing right is so difficult that it is never wise to bet on the timing, but today I am going to make a forecast on timing.

If this can close at or above 130p at the end of this week, then I see 180p (roughly a 50% rise on today's price) by mid-March.

Look at the troughs \ lows since that one on Aug 14 when the price was 61.5p. They form a curve that is rising like a parabola.

The sp has doubled since last August. It could go up by at least 50% in the near future - AT LEAST 50%.

It is a good closing price for SRB today considering the sharp drop in the gold price and other PM stocks dropping in response.

Even those who are not TA \ charting experts (and I am not an expert) might find it interesting to take a brief look at the 6M and 3Y chart. The SRB charts link is on this page next to the Chat link.

On the 6M chart, see the period from 23 Sep to 22 Nov (pause your mouse pointer on the line and it shows the date) - the peaks ran horizontally in that period then on 27 \ 28 Nov then the breakout happened.

On the 3Y chart, see the rise since September, do you think the upward curve suggests a parabola forming?

It was the possibility of a parabolic rise that stopped me from selling yesterday.
