It's nice to see an up day, and a good rise too.

After several down days I was starting to get a bit worried about my forecast of 180p by mid-March, but now it is back on track.

I remember when the ACA board was full of similar analysis and all the glowing forecasts of how well the company was going to do. It was all true. It was a great company and that was why I bought in.

Then how come I saw my ACA shares drop from well over 500p to 125p?

The answer - the Africa risk factor that is totally ignored on this board.

Another tip - with penny stocks - watch out for rampers.

They operate in gangs. One tactic is that one of them will make long posts with lots of so called analysis of the figures from the company, the financials. Then another of the gang will post lots of praise, "Thanks for that [name], you are so right", that sort of thing.

Watch out for chat boards where, if anyone points out a valid risk or makes any comment that is negative, the others will use two tactics. One is that suddenly lots of very positive posts appear and the negative comment gets pushed down and off the bottom of the page. The gang swamped the board with posts to bury the negative comment.

The other tactic is to go on the attack. At first it will be mild criticism and tell the person they are wrong, using their so called analysis to back up that argument. Should the person mentioning the risk go on to point out that the risk is real and must taken into account, then the attack will turn nasty with insults, abuse and mockery. The gang will bring in others to join in and they bully the person into shutting up.

This GFM board seems to not be plagued in that way, but always be suspicious and eventually you will be able to tell the genuine investor from the crooks.

Don't be too hard on yourself for selling too soon. We all make mistakes sometimes. Over the years you will buy and then they drop or sell and then they go up, but so long as you make more right decisions that wrong ones, you should make money.

Be happy with the gain you made and don't dwell on "If only" - other than to learn from it.

After the first step up in this recent rise, I thought about selling but I spotted the reverse head and shoulders on the price chart so I didn't sell. A reverse head and shoulders indicates a big jump on the way. With GFM, the rise was delayed by the sad fatality and mine closure, but here it is now. I recommend learning a few chart patterns. You need only five or six and they can help you to spot big moves ahead. I find the double bottom reversal, the flagpole and flag, head and shoulders \ reverse h & s, falling wedge and cup and handle to be very reliable. Always wait for the pattern to form properly and it is crystal clear. Avoid jumping in too soon as sometimes what looks like a pattern forming isn't.

Now that I've got your blood boiling (calm down, it is just my little joke) a 7% rise is nice to see. Don't forget that I am a holder and want it to go up.

I just think that we need to keep the risks in mind. All that analysis is all well and good, but I saw the same analysis for ACA. ACA had impressive figures, it was a very well run company with great reserves, that was why I bought in, but the analysis didn't spot the attack coming and the sp fell from well over 500p to about 125p.

As I said a few weeks ago, I balance the risk versus reward. I see the reward in THX but the risk keeps me on the alert for the time to exit. If we had more talk on here about analysing the risk it might help all of us should bad things happen.

No, it wasn't Pedro, and you have proved me right - I said that you are relentless in attacking him, or I might have said "endlessly" digging at him. I don't recall the exact words because unlike you, I have a life and don't have a deep self-loathing that causes me to have a hate-filled mind and have to redirect that hate into goading and bullying someone.

POG is up to $2,865 and the THX sp hasn't moved, not yesterday and not today. However it is only 08:30, so it might go up later today. Wait and see.

The sp shot up by just over 12% today and no one comments on it. Where is everyone - queuing up for Lily Phillips?

I see that I have just made four posts and this makes five, so they will now accuse me of swamping the board. That wasn't a deliberate tactic, I simply posted then thought of something else I'd like to say.

Re: "pie in the sky, pseudo-babble on here that is passed off as analysis" - just look at the amount of it. There will be some genuine PIs on here, but if you keep your critical faculties sharpened, you can spot the ramping going on.

Beware of those who attack anyone who points the risks, the valid risks. They want no mention of the risk and one tactic they use is, when they see a negative post, the gang members all post super-positive posts, with loads of "analysis" is to "prove" they are right, and they make enough posts to push the post that offended them of the bottom of the page.
