RE: Attack is the best form of defence.14 Jul 2024 18:07
Over 2 years ago Mr Biswas announced that Newcrest were going to carry out infrastructure upgrades in order to accommodate ore from Havieron.
The upgrades, part of which were plant modifications such as train mods, mag separation in the flotation circuit to lower pyrrhotite levels in the copper concentrate, a CIP circuit on the flotation tail and cyanide detoxification circuit and a hell of a lot more. The all-weather road for the haulage trains formed part of the infrastructure upgrades. The CapEx at that time was half a billion dollars.
To date, other than initial roadway clearing, none of the infrastructure upgrading has taken place.
In my view Twiggy is having Havieron BUT he will not want Telfer.
There has been lots of talk about Telfer being the epicentre of processing for all the miners in the region - Twiggy will build a "green" processing plant very near to Havieron and it will be capable of processing everyones ore. Timescale for new plant build with associated infrastructure, 2-3 years possibly 4. By the looks of things others in the region will not be looking to have ore processed before that.
Wyloo are promoting themselves as greener than green.
Private investors, especially the long term holders, will feel peeved at the protracted timescale but that's not the concern of Twiggy. Long term huge investors is the way forward. The long term privates not only don't want to hear this but they will forge ahead with their ideology of "it's about to happen". It's not!
We will have 100% of Havieron but we will not have Telfer, and neither will anyone else who has half an ounce of common sense.
And of course, Actus is aware of this.
Telfer is closing down.
Just my view of course - no investment advice blah blah... As Gervaise used to say!
Onwards we go!
