Max or Mez. No. Your reinvestment is fine, as long as the money doesn’t leave the wrapper of the ISA. Your position reflects mine pretty much. I’m with HL. If you decide to sell any shares at a profit within the 20/21 ISA, the cash proceeds do not count towards the 21/22 ISA allowance. You could keep the money uninvested within the ISA, or buy different shares. I’ve subsequently topped up my existing stocks and shares ISA for the 21/22 tax year with another £20k from a non ISA savings account and I will be transferring in more when a cash ISA matures next month.

Afternoon all. Dreadful day for my shares yesterday, but today good. I bailed on ARB @178 and ALBA @0.2525p - both with a 30% loss late yesterday. I might buy back into ARB once it stabilises.
I still hold small amounts of EUA and GGP.
O and C - I too have been holding BRWM for the past month on the grounds that hopefully they know something about mining (unlike me, or ALBA!) and am up 5%.
On that note, I’m off to the allotment later to do an hours digging.

And as of 9pm, my RIOT shares have dropped 20% and wiped out my gains. Crypto not for the feint hearted. My gut feeling is that people are selling RIOT to move into Coinbase.

M - yes a bit of a bender with lunch and early dinner. I wore all the stuff I took to Iceland - and was warm enough - helped by infra red heater in one place. You mentioned you hadn’t heard of ALBA. I wished I hadn’t! :).

T - very enjoyable thanks. Probably an expensive day out “costing” me a grand not executing my orders. I’d still do it again though.

I don’t think I mentioned it, but I subscribed to the Jarvis offer on PB and was successful. Bit of a risk in terms of waiting a month (subject to shareholder approval) to get my hands on them, but currently sitting on a 20% profit.

I too hold ARB and sitting on a small loss. Last week I used my £1k I had in my etoro account to buy a tiny piece of Bitcoin, then flipped it to RIOT as a form of leverage. I’m up 20% unlike ARB :(

Afternoon all. MIA past two days as I was celebrating end of lockdown most of Monday and taking it steady yesterday. Beginning to regret buying ALBA a while back - I’m down 30% and no end in sight. I was thinking of selling half on Monday and crystallising a loss, along with short term buy and hold of BOOM (and would make 10%) Neither of which I did because I was more concerned about going out later that day.

Thanks for the lessons learned on stop losses - duly noted.

Oh, and I too like corned beef, preferably mixed in with buttery mash and a side of baked beans. I can’t remember the last time I had that.

Afternoon all. My small dabble with CARD seems to be paying off. I’m up 10% and their shops aren’t even open yet. I may sell before the end of the month ie before their bank covenants are due to be reviewed. Need to see if they generate enough cash in those two weeks. Their new “website” to compete with Moonpig etc is poor.

S, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what was your thinking about buying 88e after their share collapse - which worked out well . Thanks.

My 88e shares are up 31% today. Shame I’m still down 62% on my original £250 investment. :)

S - I’ve always wanted to be famous. However, infamous will do for now. :).

S - on Friday I had £250 in cash left uninvested in my 20/21 S&S ISA. I bought 88e on the basis that if I lost it all, it would be no big deal. They are now worth £73.85 :)
I’m keeping them as a reminder not to waste any spare cash in the future. Overall though, a great day for my portfolio. Hope it’s been the same for you all.

The way the EU treat the UK in terms of financial equivalence really annoys me. We haven’t diverged on anything since leaving but they are holding out, while the Yanks who have obviously never been in the EU still have theirs, and woe betide the EU if they ever threaten them with withdrawal of equivalence at one months notice.

o and T. I was a remainer, but it’s clear to me that the EU are now more overt in treating us as an economic threat. After all, even when we were in there was never truly a single market as finance was excluded. Boris ( I’m no fan of his) once quoted something rather undiplomatic along the lines that he hoped the EU wouldn’t dish out punishment beatings once wed left. Well, we’ve not had a beating, but we are getting blamed for their ineptitude.

m, hope you have better luck than me. Like my shares last week, my tomato seedlings took a dive off the window sill. The clumsy oaf that I am. :)

Well, apart from travel - I bailed on that weeks ago at a small profit.
I’m looking at investing in some US stocks for long term hold at some point when there’s value. I’ve completed the necessary forms for trading on HL. Are there any differences/peculiarities in trading US stocks v U.K. I realise there is quite some risk in the ATH share prices and exchange rates at the mo.

Hopefully nobody got their fingers burnt with Deliveroo. If you are nowhere near making a profit in a lockdown year, the chances are you never will. Are any of these companies profitable ? (other than for their original owners! )

S. I remember many many years ago one of the computer mags suggested leaving your PC on overnight to mine Bitcoin as part of a mining network and you’d share the proceeds. Of course I thought what a load of nonsense just for a few percent of a Bitcoin each night. that wasn’t worth very much. If only!

Morning all. What a glorious day, sun shining here in Bristol. Just come back from doing some exercise to find that all my holdings have gone up today. That’s a first. (Noting that several are still less than what I paid!).
o - in answer to my successful IPOs. I was in and out on the day with CBX, KNB, I’ve held BEG as it’s in a growth sector within, or post covid.

S - me too. I’ve done alright out of IPOs this year, I’m staying clear of Deliveroo. Lots of negative press. I can see lots of innocent first time share buyers caught up with Gig economy hype being taken to the cleaners.

I’m new to this too, only been frequent trading for two months.
Very very wise words from nezlob. Don’t get sucked into hype regarding small stocks.
95% of my portfolio is in medium to long holds of well known FTSE companies and I’ve made about 20% plus dividends over the past year. Not stunning, but much much lower risk. However, again read up on things.
Even with reading up, I’m currently down 10% on my 2 months of AIM and small cap dealings - so let that be a warning to you:). Good luck!
