Happy New Year everyone.

My thinking flipped on gold, so bought back into GGP and in a bigger way in early November and done well. I’m still holding a small amount of Sareum only because I am massively down. One can only hope for a miracle. Lots of uncertainty in the world given today’s headlines. All the best

Hello strangers. Hope all is well.

Actually did some trading. Just over a week ago, I sold all my GGP holding for a decent profit. My thinking was that gold price was on the way down. Unusually, I was correct. I will be buying back in at some point - hopefully before they update their plans for the Havieron mine. GLA

o - agreed, Trump is a looney and making it impossible for businesses to function and plan investment. Of course we as investors are caught up in all this. The only advantage coming from Trump is the price of gold increase.

As at 12:14 today after three and a half years I’ve finally broke even on Greatland Gold. Hurrah!

Hi nez. These last few days have been likened to COVID in terms of market turmoil. Whether there’s a cure for Trump who knows! Even his mate Musk has seen his Tesla stock drop 50% from its all time highs of last year.

I became risk averse last year, so ended up with 2/3 of my investments in world tracker funds and did quite well (until recently). I didn’t know how Trumps tariffs would pan out, so sold most of my trackers 2-3 weeks ago locking in most of the gains. I can’t change my pension plan that easily otherwise I’d have done the same, so that is seriously exposed to what’s gone on and it’s taken a right hammering.

I’m still holding my GGP and Sareum from a few years ago, but remain ever hopeful.

o - glad you’ve had some success.

Following on from what you said - There are some great smaller companies here in the U.K. and I wish you and them well. However, I finally lost patience with my biggest holding - THRG (that invests in such companies)and sold up. I’ve taken a big loss having stupidly bought at the height of the stock market boom in 21. At the moment, I can’t see any upside for small and medium sized companies as everything being floated as ideas for raising tax, employer NI, employment regs etc by the government means these types of companies will become less agile and profitable. I will see what happens in the budget before buying back in or anything else.

Hargreaves Lansdown have now incorporated isavings and cash ISAS from a multitude of institutions - both easy access and termed and allowing a simple seamless transfer in and out of stocks and shares and savings accounts.

So, in the meantime I will stick the cash it in any easy access cash ISA.

V. - yes sadly still holding GGP after todays near 30% drop.

I kind have knew there had to be a raise once Newmont decided to divest H. and Telfer. With such a dilution with billions of shares in issue I can’t see me getting back to my average 18p in the next ten years, so in my head I’ve written the money off. But as you say, getting in now you might do ok. I won’t be buying any more though. :)

Thanks nez. I wish you well with your latest trades. I must say there isn’t so much fun or interest in having more of my pf in trackers or funds even if they make steady money. There’s still lots I the press of late about funds investing in U.K. small and medium sized companies. I wish what they were saying would come true as that was how I was caught out a few years ago. I’m still holding them and they are still way down. :((

Just an update. Saw Nikkei had recovered overnight, so put an order in to buy back MSFT,VISA, Mastercard first thing Tuesday and now have 5% more shares in those than I did on Friday. Didn’t buy back any Google as the search monopoly story broke.

Horrendous in Japan overnight and tin Hat day here.

My pf has had a great run this year, but my luck had to run out at some point.

Finally did some trades. Sold all my Visa, Mastercard, Google and MSFT on Friday all for a 25-60% profit. Will buy back in when things have calmed or corrected further. Not tempted to buy any U.K. stocks. Three years on, still awaiting my GGP ship to come in. Could be worse, I could be waiting for the EUA ship!

Afternoon all. Thought I’d drop in and say hello. Hope everyone is ok.

Nothing really to report trading wise. I did take part in the SAR fund raise in March to double my small holding in SAR. It wasn’t a lot as the share price had collapsed since I bought them in 2021.

Despite my big holding of THRG and Smithson which haven’t moved in a year and are way down on what I paid for them, my overall pf is doing rather well (up 20% this year) due to my swaps into world index trackers and Alliance Trust. By their nature they are dominated by the US (which is looking to froth).

Still awaiting a big payout on GGP!

O - your holiday sounded amazing. Glad you had a great time.

My hols are on hold this year until my other half gets their hip sorted.

O - you are right about many U.K. stocks being undervalued and apparently as a whole not going anywhere.

It sort of rhymes with my thinking. My retrenchment from U.K. stocks continues. After two years, I’ve sold my MTF Martin Currie Mid Cap at a loss and bought L&G international Index Trust tracker and already got some of that loss back over the past couple of weeks.

Ive sold my small holding of BEN as previously mentioned. What a pile of doggie doo (which I bought when it was pumped). Hopefully, my final lesson learned - not to buy AIM stocks every again.

That said I will still hold my GGP.

Afternoon all from cold sunny Bristol. Also, a belated Happy New Year and hope everyone is enjoying their travels.

Not much trading as such, but last week sold some long term non-ISA holdings (in a DJ30 tracker and mining stocks that were in profit) to fund some home improvements/repairs.

Nez, no I didn’t re-buy any Yellowcake. More fool me. Glad you’ve been in a position to top-slice.

V - I’m still holding my GGP. My individually owned US stocks are in profit by 20-50%. I’ve resisted the temptation to sell and buy more GGP having been burnt so many times with AIM stocks including my dog BEN (down 85%). Let’s hope the formal decision to mine is done this year.

In terms of my whole Pf (including trading fund) the past few weeks have been a microcosm of the whole years ups and downs. A couple of weeks ago it hit an all time low, but has somewhat recovered. Holding my nerve and not selling anything. Thank goodness I have some exposure to some of the big stocks in the US.

I’ve dipped my toe in today and bought some more Diageo on their 15% drop. As usual, they may turn out to be a long term hold!

No change for me really. More divis arrived in my ISA, so I decided to buy more LGEN last week. They have a 9% divi on their SP at the mo. Let’s hope the SP doesn’t drop!

Evening all. I Hope everyone is ok. I’m sat in the garden on a very pleasant evening having a cold beer - making the most of the fleeting nice weather. Talking of sitting, I’ve been sitting on my hands! - Nothing to report trading wise. I do check our BB most days - hoping that one of you has made a quick healthy few quid!

I notice that on many of the individual share chats the numbers of posts are way down. A distinct lack of enthusiasm in the current climate.

Groundhog Day has turned into Groundhog Months - my US shares doing well, U.K. holdings dropping. (The old saying of sell in May and go away would have stood me in good stead). The US share situation is interesting insofar as my big name holdings are up 10, 20, 30, 40%, but the DJ30 is only up 2% over the same period. Unfortunately, the ratio of my Uk to US Shares is probably in the order of 5:1. I can’t even be bothered to look into moving my HL ISA share dividends out into a fixed rate ISA savings account paying 5+%. I certainly won’t buy any shares at the mo. Is everyone feeling the same way?

Hi all. Continuing Groundhog Day for me pf wise. Up and down daily without any

real news we didn’t already know, or confirming news.

That said, my US stocks (which started as trades!) are doing rather well Dollar wise, but “unfortunately”negated by Sterling’s strength these past few months. Still they are beating the U.K. inflation rate.

My major holdings in U.K. small and medium sized company funds are still 30-40% down from when I bought them 2 years ago. Personally, I don’t see them recovering any time soon. Hopefully, I will be proved wrong like I normally am.

I’m so risk averse at the moment I’m even thinking of taking my recent dividends from LGEN and BRWM and opening another ISA savings account and getting 4.5%. One things for sure, I won’t be investing in any AIM shares ever again.

Although my pf is too heavily weighted in U.K. small and medium sized funds, I remain ever the optimist.
