According to the screen I’m looking at, I’m the first posting today.

S - thank you for the advice and guidance. Much appreciated. Hope you have a good time on your return to France later this month without too much covid testing rigmarole.

Afternoon all. My earlier post took ages to appear.
o - your post wasn’t even showing.
After I posted, I made another buy of LGEN and left a sale order as I was going out. This kicked in for another small profit.
When I got back home, I made another buy and a bit later an attempted sell for profit.
I say attempted, because I pressed the button (on eToro) to sell in the final minute of trading. Unusually, rather than saying “closed” it said “pending closed” then it went to the trade remaining open. Fingers crossed it doesn’t drop on open tomorrow.
Reasonably pleased with the trading as I made in total a tidy amount, but the overall pf is down much more again.

Morning all. Weather - damp and not what was expected. However, we are off out for a walk and lunch later.
One step forward, two steps back and repeat with the market at mo. Bought and sold LLOY and LGEN this morning for small profits.
V - sounds like you had a great time at the Red Dwarf convention - much more fun than trading.

T - grateful as ever. I’ve banked 1.75% off my 10% loss I was holding on LLOY by selling all my holding. Will look to buy back at some point.

n - patience is a virtue. You may recall is sold my small amount of Yellowcake for a small profit several a few month’s ago after buying on PB - and now they are 90p more. :) well done.

O - I’d like to invest in such companies as ANIC, but at the mo I’m shrinking my numbers of different shares. I’m now down to 12, and four of those are funds. If my EUA comes to fruition, I may add a new a new company share in that field, or should I say petri dish. :)

T. Thanks very much for the time and effort put into your reply. Your examples and methodology/thinking were easy to understand. There’s food for thought for me in terms of taking things forward. I’m coming to the conclusion that while waiting for an SP to recover on a pretty much a no news nothing is changing thinking (other than the personal belief the market is wrong) the money is dead and not earning its keep. Thanks again.

Morning all. Hope you’re having a good weekend.
Can I ask what are your personal thoughts/methods are on dealing with losses if you think think the SP will rise in the next 6 months. Do you always hold or try and trade your way out?
As an example, other than my day trades I’ve been holding batches of LLOY at an average of 10% loss for 4 months. (I had thought the SP was going to break the 50p barrier at the time)
I’ve sold some off as and when the price recovered to more than I paid. The LLOY share price rarely moves up or down by 1-2% in any one day. I feel as though I missed a trick on Friday when the price moved up 1.75%, and ended the day only 0.14% up. Even with the 0.5% stamp duty I’d have made more of an inroad into the loss.
T - you probably know, but there was an article in the papers and here about the SHEIN app being banned by western governments, which should help the likes of BOO and your ASC. ASC does look very good value at the mo on a historic basis .

n - not everyone is cut out for mainstream education or uni. A lot of those jobs are in short supply. You tweaking their interest and pointing them in a new direction, rather than being written off is brilliant. Hats off to you :)

Furlough contributed to AVONs production line staffing woes in US as many are on minimum wage. Why work 80 hours a week when you can get $600 in furlough instead. I’ve sold all my AVON at a big loss as it’s not going anywhere. Another lesson learned for me

Risky to buy anything at the mo what with the current market. The batch of EUA bought yesterday was sold this afternoon for a £200 profit. Still holding the bulk from earlier this year.

Evening all. Been MIA as we went out and about and then lunch - eaten with one hand in the case of my partner.
Fickle markets. Was thinking of buying Dunelm and B&M last week and convinced myself - no, even very good results will be baked into the SP already.
And what happens - gggrrh.
For my sins I’ve bought more EUA on its drop this afternoon with the aim to sell ASAP on a rise hopefully tomorrow or Friday. My day trade purchase this morning of LLOY went wrong. Could have took a small profit after we’d eaten, but wanted more (profit, not food :) ) . Went for a walk and now in the red.

Good afternoon. Still too warm, but the breeze is beginning to make it more comfortable. I may go and sit in the garden with a beer soon.

T - All went well with partners Carpal Tunnel Syndrome wrist op thanks. She’s resting up and I’m having to be her butler and personal assistant for a few days.

Trading this morning- Bought and sold LLOY twice. Small half percent profit made. There was a sizeable pullback on EUA at one stage, so I did buy and sell another tranche when it dropped and recovered and made 10%. Ive kept the original holding. Started to sell off some of the losses I’m holding. Otherwise, nothing jumping out at me to try and trade during as you say T a flat market

V - enjoy your weekend. I really liked Red Dwarf. I like sci-fi, so add very good comedy script into the mix - brilliant.

Thanks T & N. Slowly unwinding my long holds of LLOY. Sold a small amount of them on an order I left while I was out this morning. Evens on that batch. Need SP to go up another 2p before I can sell the next batch.

Good start to the week, just sold my small amount of FOG I bought on Friday for a 15% profit and EUA up another 8%. :)

T. Don’t worry, it didn’t come across like that. You and the rest of the RBB have always been helpful, informative and non judgemental- unlike many other boards where things often end up in slanging matches.

T - thanks again. I thought some of the sentiment written in Jesse Livermore 10 rules looked familiar, but much more succinctly put.
Just looked up some background info on the book I read “Reminiscences of a stock trader.” on wiki. I thought it was an autobiographical tale. However, though written by Edwin Lefèvre, It is written as first-person fiction, telling the story of a professional stock trader on Wall Street. While published as fiction, generally, it is accepted to be the biography of stock market whiz, Jesse Livermore:). The book is dedicated to him, but I didn’t recognise the name or who he was until you told me!
As regards Mark Minervini, I will keep following him. I did like his tweet “People say they want to get rich; they say they want to be a great stock trader, but what most people really mean is they want those things as long as it's not too inconvenient or takes too much work.”
I think that’s me, but to a smaller extent on the wealth front.
