Evening everyone. Great day pf wise yesterday, but largely reversed today.
Usual suspects involved: EUA, GGP, SAR, JDW.

O, T - as you can see, I sympathise with your shares that go up and down for no real reason.

V - note what you say about bannings on GGP, I wondered what was going on with all the duplicate messages. There’s been some banning and threads removal on EUA too.

Trading fund wise - sold ABF yesterday at evens and all my LGEN and LLOY for a tidy profit. Then bought back into Microsoft and JDSports - now also in profit.
Bought more BARC, and a small amount of LLOY on their drop this morning -still awaiting recovery above purchase price.
My purchase of BP made two weeks ago is way down, negating a big chunk of the gains mentioned above - I’m going try and hold a while in the hope of recovery.

Good day for me overall pf and trading wise today and this week.
You know I said I wanted out of EUA at 26p. Well it was nearly there. However, FOMO has kicked in and I’m holding. This is the second time this year I could have cashed out at a small profit. Now fallen back a bit on close.

Trading wise - sold Next for a tiny loss, bought DS Smith with the proceeds. My LLOY,BARC, LGEN doing well - more than offsetting my current large loss on BP. Holding all in hope of better things next week.

Another lot of heavy rain heading our way, so hope you stay safe and dry. I’m off out later for drinks and will call in to a Wetherspoons at some point to see how my investment is doing.

Very grateful the EUA Board issued albeit a fairly noncommittal RNS about the potential sale. For the time being it’s reversed in part the rapid decline in SP. I want to get out of this ASAP at least even, so any sale around the 26p mark (the last placing price with a high wealth investor)
Missed the moment to sell BARC for a good profit at 202p a few days ago, now in red!
I’m holding in the hood LLOY break the 50p barrier. May buy back into Microsoft if they drop on profit taking this afternoon.
GGP - latest RNS, what can I say. Thought it good news and as usual SP drops.

I sold all my Microsoft this afternoon for a nice profit. Shame my EUA continuing its drop this week has swallowed all of it up. :(

T - well done on Dark. A high risk share.

Government ought to do something about SHEIN, they pay no tax, duty, no human rights and undercut ASOS and BOO who do pay taxes.

The only thing I took away from the budget announcement today was the stuff around pubs and duty - resulting in a 5% increase in JDW. 18% due to go before I break even!

Should have taken my profits yesterday as they’ve all evaporated. Hoping Microsoft opening SP will redeem things following results released after hours last night.

Thanks for the advice guys. I’ve set a few orders for tomorrow- below today’s closing price for JDSports and NEXT in the hope of some minor profit taking from today’s advances. Both are 5% off their ATH back a while.

Following on from what V said, Anyone have any suggestions about medical stocks that might benefit if the NHS outsource some of the extra diagnostic work arising from the “extra” government money coming their way?

Pf largely unchanged again today, which masks a death spiral plunge in EUA and a welcome change up in JDW. I’m beginning to think EUA will go it alone, and will take 5-10 years to start generating cash.
Really hope ‘Spoons have turned a corner.
Unfortunately, both are in my ISA so would rather not sell either at a loss.

Trading wise - made a small top up of LLOY which is in profit, while the others buys are still slightly below the waterline. LGEN and BARC trades doing well and well in good profit. Might sell the BARC depending on US sentiment this pm, and perhaps some of the Microsoft depending on their results. Tempted to buy JDSports, ABF and NEXT for a variety of different reasons.

Morning all.

Overall pf down again over the past week as usual. Mainly due to JDW, EUA and GGP.

My JDSports bought early last week came good on Friday and I banked a 3% profit. I might day trade it again.
I sold Diageo for a minute profit - I won’t be investing in them again unless as a LTH.
LGEN purchase also in small profit, but holding for now.
My trades opened earlier in the week in the banks and BP were down a couple of percent but have recovered a bit. Hoping they will all rise in the next week or so assuming the Evergrande issue goes away/deferred. However, if LLoyds update this week coming is as good as BARC their price will drop!

Finally, was tempted to put in an order to buy Facebook ahead of opening. Glad I resisted, as it dropped 5%. A narrow miss there and I will avoid from now on until the revenue impact of Apple analytics and targeted ads issue is better understood.

O - like you, my losses on trading since May have been more than covered by my profits from sells earlier in 2021. To avoid any CGT issue, I did cash a lot of the profits in in March (eg LGEN, ABF, LLOY) ready for some physical spending fixing up the house, replacing a car etc. Still haven’t got around to doing anything about those, but in the meantime I redeployed everything I cashed in back into shares and funds. In hindsight, I should have kept the money in a box under the bed!

I’ve used the government gateway the last couple of years to do self assessment (in essence to report dividends, but you had to report all income). It was fairly straightforward once you got through the registration process.
If any of you want any of my losses for this tax year to offset against your profits let me know :)

Don’t blame the latest RNS for the drop in GGP. Blame me for reinvesting back to the level I was!

May I ask, did your financial advisor mention anything about the £2k per annum dividend allowance changing? or the rate of tax to be paid above the £2k.

O - Interesting purchases compared to my staid options.
Earlier this year, following a newspaper tip I bought MP Evans who also produce palm oil and held for several months. The share did nothing, so I sold it. Just checked - it’s up 30% plus.
Not enough patience shown on my part, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good afternoon. Grey and very windy today - should help protect the UKs meagre reserves of gas!
O - I’m now fully committed fund wise. Went back in on GGP below 18p and did a small top up of EUA on their drop - both in my ISA. Bought BARC and LLOY in my trading fund this morning, sold JDSports this afternoon for a nice profit and bought more LLOY and BARC. A risky strategy, but both are hovering just below 50p and 200p barrier ahead Barclays interims tomorrow.

EUA down a fair bit today, but SAR up a lot too.

T - funny how when we retire we become someone’s spare resource to utilise :)

None of my trades on Friday have panned out yet, so holding them.
Partially bought back into GGP today. Will look to buy further tranches maybe tomorrow and later this week. I’m trying to learn from my past mistakes of buying any share in one go.

V - my JDW down again. I’ve been out and about a lot recently and into central Bristol. All the pubs, bars and restaurants seem really busy. So am surprised about JDW and MARS.

My pf has been drifting down every month since beginning of May, but this week it went up a bit. Good week in day trading too. Late yesterday I bought Diageo, LLOY, BP and JDSports all of which yet to get past the price I paid.

V - now that it’s stabilised, will look to buy back in on GGP sometime next week for my ISA.

T - thoughts on the Mark Minervini CNBC interview on UPST share trade? :)

Morning all. Very sunny and unusually just like my pf today. Why such sentiment I don’t really know, because nothing has changed and all the downside risks remain.
My large day trade of LLOY went really bad yesterday afternoon with a big price drop immediately after I bought. Was on the verge of wiping out all my day trading gains over past two months. Had to hold overnight which I didn’t want to do. Fortunately, big jump today so was able to cash out for a nice profit.
T - Lesson learned there that I shouldn’t have needed to if I’d followed Jesse Livermore’s advice!
O - the French have never forgiven us for Agincourt, Trafalgar, Waterloo etc. Perfidious Albion :)

Thanks V. On your prompt, I just read the MARS update. As you say very encouraging, but as O also said the markets are really weird as the SP barely moved. Doesn’t auger well for my JDW.

O. I was (am) a remainer. The driver situation has definitely been made worse by Brexit, age demographics, post covid wake up. Before Brexit they hauliers were saying they were short of drivers and it would get worse with the age profile of existing British drivers. I was reading today about exactly the same problem in the US with ships waiting over a week to come in and be unloaded etc. Looks like all this including energy prices, microchips etc won’t unwind until this time next year. :(
I see GGP is down another 5%
I’m off out doing chores but set a trailing stop loss on Diageo I bought on the drop this morning. Currently sitting on a $120 profit. Hope to come back to more on my return.
